STARK

Source Games Audio Mixer and TTS

STARK is an application that allows you to use Text-to-Speech and play back audio through your mic in Source engine games using in-game chat commands. This project has evolved from a proof of concept that I made a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away using AutoHotkey link

Dependencies

How to set up

There's a high likelyhood you'll fail (not your fault, the current release is very, very buggy)
However, if you want to try anyway, here's a tutorial:
Here, there be dragons

Contributing

If you want to contribute to this project, don't. The code is being rewritten for v2 and is not ready for public use. So if you really want to contribute, wait until the v2 release.

stark's Issues

Tracklist and text to speech don't work in TF2

s_tracklist always returns a blank list, and the .tts command does not seem to play any text to speech. When checking the /tf/cfg/ folder while Stark and TF2 is running, I noticed that there seem to be no s_play_#.cfg files despite the audio tracks showing up in the Stark menu.

I can confirm that TF2 is properly logging console output to !!tts-axynos.txt, and the program seems to work fine for CS:GO

Doesn't support custom game directories

If you'd want to support custom directories, you'd have to parse "%SteamPath%/config/config.vdf".
Custom directories have key with this format "BaseInstallFolder_{0}" and you should check whether following file exists "/steamapps/appmanifest_{0}.acf"

Text to speech synthesises everyone's chat messages

Basically, if anyone types ".tss " in the chat, the person using STARK would hear all the messages even if +voicerecord is turned off. Can a feature be implemented such that STARK only synthesises the user's messages? Maybe you could manually input your in game nick in STARK and it would then recognise only your messages?

Cheers
