Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it does not appear there are release notes for updates made to the Inspector agent. For what it's worth I expected to find a link under section Amazon Inspector Agent Updates in Amazon Inspector Agents.

If there is no release notes made public to customers I find this troubling. The Inspector service was released back in 2015. Other AWS services like Systems Manager publicly document updates to their SSM agent. Heck, Systems Manger team went the extra mile and publish updates to SNS when new agent versions are released.

Section Setting Up an SNS Topic for Amazon Inspector Notifications of Amazon Inspector Assessment Templates and Assessment Runs contains outdated steps for modifying the permissions of an existing SNS Topic.

I'm not sure when this happened, but the SNS console has a new interface and none of the items listed existing anymore. I suspect we need append an IAM JSON policy directly to the topic but it's not clear how and what the policy needs to look like. So I'm unable to use SNS Topic with the Inspector service at this point in time.

In order let Inspector Findings trigger further processing an integration with CloudWatch Events would be needed. This requires to filter on particular severities or event types. However, the CloudWatch Events format emitted by Inspector is not documented.
