Movie Tracker

Nothing fancy.Just the same old boring goodreads for movies.

Movie Tracker is a personal movie tracker webpage to track /review/rate movies/tv shows. This is aimed to provide a strictly personal movie tracker for individual use.

User can track movie & tv shows watched.
User can rate the movie/tv shows.
User can write personal reviews for each show.
Option to add multiple reviews (like a journal) for your favorite show.
WatchList to keep note of all movies/tvs that you are planning to watch.
Integration with TheMovieDB for additional movie information.

Real Reason

I wanted to play with Spring boot and angular. Also I like to journal personal reviews for movies/tv shows. Letterboxd is a wonderful app, but it started to push ads.IMDB/Letterboxd/TheMovieDb are good to share with people. I just wanted to have a personal app to track my movies.

How to Build

The frontend & backend code are bundled together using maven front end plugin (thanks to the creator).

Clone the source
Build using maven mvn clean install
Run the package using java -jar movie-tracker-backend-1.0-SNAPSHOT -Dapi.key=<<api_key>>

Pre Requisites

Get an api key from themoviedb
Key can be given as argument -Dapi.key=<<api_key>>>>
Create a directory for h2 db. Pass the directory location as -Dh2.db.folder=<<directory_path>>

Add paging for Get /movies

Get /movies end point provides a list of all movies rated so far. Requirement is to enable pagination on end point so that client can query based on pages

Exception Messages on GUI

Rest API provide various Error responses . Need to translate all these error messages to UI.
Angular page shows a message service for displaying messages. Explore and find out the best way.

TheMovieDB integration not working

External Id field is set as zero for all the new movies added.
Bug identified on latest build.

Last Watched Should be the latest date

Issue
LastWatched is wrong.

LastWatched field provides the last updated date. Instead of that it should validate the date on PUT request and update LastWatched field only if it is newer than the current lastWatched value.

For eg.
User updates movie watched as 06-Jun-2020, then later if he records another watch for 04-Jun-2020, currently it shows lastWatched as 04-Jun-2020. Instead of that, it should display 06-Jun-2020.

Responsive UI

Current UI is a mess. Even though Angular Material and Flex Layout is in use, the UI is not responsive.

Cleanup UI elements.
Consistent rendering or views.

Navigation from Add movie page to movie details not working

After adding movie, the page has to be redirected to the moviedetails page /movie/{id}.
Navigation is not working and id return is zero.

Display TheMovieDB Data while searching movie on /movies/new

It would be good to display the moviedb api data on right pane of add movie form if user selects the auto complete data provided by themoviedb.
