Auth0 Servlet Samples

This sample demonstrates how to add authentication to a Java web app using Auth0.

Check the Java Quickstart to better understand of this sample.

What is Auth0?

Auth0 helps you to:

Add authentication with multiple authentication sources, either social like Google, Facebook, Microsoft Account, LinkedIn, GitHub, Twitter, Box, Salesforce, amont others, or enterprise identity systems like Windows Azure AD, Google Apps, Active Directory, ADFS or any SAML Identity Provider.
Add authentication through more traditional username/password databases.
Add support for linking different user accounts with the same user.
Support for generating signed Json Web Tokens to call your APIs and flow the user identity securely.
Analytics of how, when and where users are logging in.
Pull data from other sources and add it to the user profile, through JavaScript rules.

Create a free account in Auth0

Go to Auth0 and click Sign Up.
Use Google, GitHub or Microsoft Account to login.

Steps to reproduce:

Download sample project https://github.com/auth0-samples/auth0-servlet-sample/tree/master/01-Login
Set all quickstart's configurations.
Run application.
Login or SignUp user.

Expected result: see the application's main screen.

Actual Result: SignatureException.

Auth0-servlet dependency out of date in sample projects

The auth0-servlet dependency for the pom.xml is out of date in the seed projects, the version here is 3.3.2 and the version from the code snippet in https://auth0.com/docs/quickstart/webapp/java/00-intro is 3.4.0.

Quickstart instructions in dashboard is missing info how to open the app in browser

Quickstart instructions in the Auth0 dashboard > Application(s) > Quick Start is missing info how to open the sample app in the browser after running the gradle command, because the url is http://localhost:3000/portal/home and not the common http://localhost:3000, which one only finds out when reading the readme.md
It should be visible right away in the layover div that's shown when downloading the sample zip.

black page

hello,
i changed my auth0 settings and compiled the project , but i get only the grey modal top right saying i need to login. Lock doesn't appear at all.

On firebug console i get an error :

SyntaxError: identifier starts immediately after numeric literal

WebApp Java Servlet: No instructions for windows in readme file.

In the section Running the Sample in the README.md file of the github repo:

The instructions for run the project are not valid for Windows, this might confuse a new user that hasn't used Gradle before.

WebApp Java Servlet: Error in the URL in readme File

After running the server, the README.md file says:
The server will be accessible on https://localhost:8080/portal/home. After logging in you should see the token in the header.
But, the server is accessible on http://localhost:8080/portal/home instead

Lock version is outdated.

Latest Lock version is 10.16, the project is using 10.14

License file missing

There's no License file in the repo which also creates 404 for license link in README

404 Error While Running the Project (Need help ASAP)

Image shows 404 Error. I am using Apache Tomcat to run. Tried to fix port numbers and add callback/logout to Auth settings on app. Please help ASAP. Thanks.

Java seed project comes without parameter

Java seed project comes without ISSUER parameter.

Does not build on Java 11

The sample project uses an old version of gradle that is not compatible with newer Java versions:
FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.

What went wrong:
Could not determine java version from '11.0.11'.

Changing gradle to a newer version in the gradle-wrapper.properties fixes the error above, but results in a null pointer exception:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke method getText() on null object

WebApp Java Servlet: Nothing in the readme file

In the github repo, the project has 2 README.md files, one inside the folder 01-login where all the instructions are correct, but the other readme file is outside this folder and is empty (https://github.com/auth0-samples/auth0-servlet-sample/blob/master/README.md).

Unable to get Http Headers in Response

I am unable to get the response http headers if call succeeded without any issue. I want to check the x-rate-limit which is not available in the response of execute functions.

I suggest there should be function with other response parameters of request.

How to use Authorization Extension without Spring Security

Hello, could show how could use Role-based matching without Spring Security?

Lock widget version out of date.

The Lock widget version is out of date in login.jsp file, last one is 10.12.2 .

Non-https not allowed per auth0 management dashboard

Following the steps here https://github.com/auth0-samples/auth0-servlet-sample/tree/master/01-Login#auth0-dashboard produce the following error:

The project must be updated to work with OIDC

Steps to reproduce the error:

Turn on OIDC conformant toggle.
Run the seed project.
Expected result: The log in works.
Result: The Logs from Auth0 show this message: " Password login is disabled for clients using externally
hosted login pages with oidc_conformant flag set."

Logout Not Correct.

Hi Folks,

The LogoutServlet is only invalidating the users session, tnen the user is redirected back to the LoginServlet.

The LoginServlet in turn redirects the user to the Auth0 website where the user remains authenticated.

The LogoutServlet is only invalidating the current session. The LogoutServlet should ensure that the user must input their credentials on Auth0 if they want to see the home page again.

If I am wrong about this please let me know why.
