invested's Introduction

Invested

Invested is a physics game made in the Unity engine. It implements Allomancy, a magic system from the novel "Mistborn" by Brandon Sanderson that involves Pushing and Pulling on nearby metal objects.

Here is a (non-exhaustive) list of the assets this Unity project uses:

Collage

Here is a collection of art and other fanworks I liked or used as references for this project. They certainly influenced the art direction so I wanted to credit them.

Special Thanks

  • Pagerunner, Argent, Jofwu, and other many other members of the 17th Shard community for discussions on the physics of Allomancy
  • Arthur Llorens for ideas and valuable discussions on game design
  • Brandon Sanderson for creating these books. I am not affiliated with Brandon Sanderson; this is project made purely out of passion for the cosmere, open-source and free for anyone to play. Based on Brandon's knowledge base articles and the fact that I'm not commercializing this project, I don't expect I'll have to take it down.

invested's Issues

clarification

Specify that the program is not compatible with Macs

src: Source Prefab or Model has been deleted - PlayerFrame Variant

When opening the project, I get a few small issues.
The assets/prefabs/PlayerFrame Variant prefab is missing a few components (referenced in script AllomechanicalGlower), and appears it might be because its supposed to inherit from another prefab object, which isn't in the git commit?
Seeing errors in AllomechanicalGlower.cs > awake() method, nullReference on irons, steels, etc. component where the code tries to locate them, i.e. transform.Find("Irons").

Could you confirm if there's any unity object missing in the code, it might be called "Dummy" from the prefab Hierarchy view in Unity.

Zinc time on Windows

Keybind for zinc time on Windows? Also, controller doesn't work for me. I connected the controller, but can't seem to get it to work on this

Not an issue, I just wanted to say how much I'm loving the game!!

The physics are really well balanced and allow for fluid gameplay, which is really fun. I'm getting the hang of using pushes, coins and pulls together to get to further away places, and I have currently finished everything except the two Luthadel rooms!

The story was really cool (if a tiny bit short but that made it also much more enjoyable to go through in one playthrough) and the sandbox challenge rooms are always intriguing and, well, a nice challenge.

Basically, thank you very much for taking the time to make this game, it feels amazing, and I felt just like I was a Mistborn during the entire game!

Once again, thank you very much!
