chromecastcontrols's Issues

Check if chromecast is active device before powering things down

If other devices (e.g. DVD player) are part of the setup, then it's possible the chromecast shut-down trigger could power things down when (for example) watching a DVD. It should be possible to check if the chromecast is the active device, and only shut down if it is the active device. This will need to know what the CEC address of the chromecast device is (need to determine this in setup, or read from osd_string), and should probably have a command line option to enable this behaviour.

Create installation script

This could scan for CEC and Chromecast devices, ask user which ones to use, test things, and install systemd service.

Logging?

Is there a way to review logged attempts to adjust hifi volume for troubleshooting purposes? I am still seeing the "surround sound enabled..." message, and volume levels remain the same. Could it be because I am using a sound bar connecting via optical cable? Curious if there is a way to view historical data.

any chance there is interest in updating the code to work with newer versions?

The current install and requirement versions gave me an error on a up-to-date Buster pi.

I found that I could use a version of PyChromecast around 5.0+ and it runs.

However the latest PyChromecast 10.0+ was code breaking where 'devices' has been removed and uses 'cast_info'.

Any interest in updating this project to work with PyChromecast 10+?
