NERC Airborne Research Facility Data Analysis Node (NERC-ARF-DAN) LAStools Fork

This is a fork of LAStools (https://github.com/LAStools/LAStools) used for installation on our Fedora Linux systems. The following changes have been made to makefiles

  • Added an 'install' option to install library, headers and open source tools (e.g., las2las, las2txt).
  • Build as a shared library, renamed as liblaslib to avoid conflicts with libLAS.

Unless you are installing LAStools on a NERC-ARF system or using software developed by NERC-ARF which depends on our patched version of LAStools (e.g., LAG) it is recommended you use the official version.

For more details about LAStools see the included README.

To install run:

make
make install PREFIX=/usr/local

Setting the PREFIX as required.

Make install doesn't copy all headers

Make install doesn't copy the LASZip header files mydefs.hpp and laszip.hpp which are referenced by lasdefinitions.hpp (resulting in builds that link to laslib failing).

Simple fix is to copy these two files in to the /usr/local/include/laslib/ directory together with the other files. Better fix may be to make install the full laszip library along with laslib.
