If things go really quickly we may make our first status check before the Appium server is able to respond to any status requests.

This causes the build to fail, it should just try again until Appium is up and running.

If somebody is skipping tests they won't want to start up and shut down Appium

I have configured this plugin into my pom.xml after running it am getting following error
