I'm starting this implementation now.
@diwu1989, you commented (back in Djrill) about "outdated versions of the sendgrid python library". I was planning to use the current releases of SendGrid's own sendgrid-python, which in turn uses their smtpapi-python. Do you see any issues with that? (I wasn't sure I understood your concern.)

Hmm... looks like sendgrid-python might not correctly support everything from the SendGrid API. For example, it seems to silently drop the display-name portion of cc addresses, rather than sending them as the ccname field. (Same thing with bcc, though that seems less important). And it's doing something weird with multiple reply-to addresses.
Might be better off just using requests, with smtpapi-python to generate SendGrid's x-smtpapi param. (And even that is just a simple wrapper around json.dumps.)
