antergos-kde-setup's Issues

Windows tiling problem + requests

Hello, I use the lastest Antergos with KDE Plasma 5.10.5 fully updated. And I want to report a problem that need to be fixed. The demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-M3BWPttPE

Please, can you add the full horizontal tiling? I mean the wide horizontal half window. And I also want to ask you why there arent some applets and the setting to customize the login theme? Will be availbe in the next updates? Let me know, thanks

It is not possible to use antergos with nvidia proprietary drivers + luks encryption + KDE

Like in title. It's a pretty big issue. Installing antergos kde with luks encryption and proprietary nvidia drivers renders the system unusable. System stalls after typing in luks password. This is not the case with open source drivers, kde and luks nor is it the case with proprietary drivers, luks and openbox.

For the reference: I use a thinkpad w530, stock bios, stock Intel 160 GB SSD, nvidia quadro k1000

GTK applications are not restored in Plasma 5.6.x

Antergos system with Qt 5.6.0, Plasma 5.6.3 and KDE Frameworks 5.21.0 with the newest updates on today (the moment of writing this post).

None of the tested by me applications are not restored after relogin plasma session/restart system. I tested: Firefox, Thunderbird and new Opera. I think all of them base on GTK2. All tested by me KF applications (konsole, kwrite, dolphin) are restored correctly (applying correct desktop number). The same issue I noticed also in KaOS system.

I’m not sure if this is ksmserver problem or integration of Plasma in Antergos. I noticed that in Mageia Cauldron (not stable, but based on the newest Qt and Plasma) only thunderbird is restored, but no KF applications). Here (Antergos) only KF applications are restored.

I made some test to be sure this is no GTK problem. Test consisted in hardcoding in ksmserverrc file properly lines that forced running of Thunderbird. Result: after login Thunderbird has been run. Unfortunately after relogin Thunderbird didn’t start. After that I checked ksmserverrc file and noticed that my entries disappeared.

For someone using openSUSE Leap it’s working :/

antergos-kde-setup: removing kdenetwork-kopete breaks dependency 'kdenetwork-kopete'

Hi

I'm not able to update system (all packages on one time) by any tool (octopi, pamac), including in terminal by: "pacman -Syu". I'm able to update only single packages - one by one - which appeared in update. I mean by this way:

$ sudo pacman -S package1_name package2_name ...

An error as I get is as following:

$ sudo pacman -Syu

lightdm after choosing sequence shutdown, cancel, restart just runs shutdown

Sometimes accidentally I click shutdown button when I really want only to restart. In this case I just cancel shutdown and go to restart. After clicking this button system unfortunately shutting down.

My hardware is following:
Skylake Intel i7-6700, and graphics HD 530 (GT2)
And software:
Up-to-date system on today evening (2016/11/16).
lightdm 1.18.3-1
Plasma 5.8.3, xf86-video-intel 1:2.99.917+730+gdad64e9-1and, kernel 4.8.8-ARCH

As far as I know lightdm in version 1.20 has been sometime ago released, so I wonder why the newest version is not available in Arch/Antergos.
Maintainer of this package is: Maxime Gauduin [email protected]. I'm not sure if I can write to him with ask to rebuild and release package lightdm. Actually I did it by my self (using AUR), but I got some conflicts in moment of installation.

Keyboard setting chosen in the KDE installer is not carried over to greeter and Plasma Desktop?

I just tried installing the KDE version of Antergos, and while /etc/vconsole.conf picked up my keyboard selection (danish, win keys) just fine, my graphical session and greeter effectively did not, which is odd given the fact that the Xorg log indicates that it knows about my chosen keyboard layout?

Is this the expected behaviour?

Make some softs optionnal

Hello,

I don't use and don't need these softs kdeutils-sweeper kcalc clementine vlc but if I try to remove them pacman says that it will break antergos-kde-setup.

antergos-kde-setup should let us remove non critical softs.

Thanks !

Antergos KDE lacking Application Dashboard launcher alternative

Antergos KDE does not come with the Application Dashboard Plasma widget. I am not sure why that is or what package might be needed. There doesn't appear to be a specific package for that in the Arch repos or the AUR, maybe it's a build flag.

I have had two people report to me that it is missing and I also couldn't seem to find an option for it.

Here is what the Application Dashboard looks like via Kubuntu 16.04 = https://youtu.be/4E1uePkqwrE?t=7m7s

XRandR/Plasma detects not existing display

After last updates for Frameworks 5.27.0 and intel video driver (version mentioned below) I met very annoying issue. My configuration of monitor extended with new not existing monitor called "laptop monitor" (code in configuration eDP1). I work on desktop and I didn't connect any devices to my motherboard (by HDMI or other socket).

Wasn't be so bad only this monitor broke my desktop. All opened windows went to this desktop. I had to drag them (blindly) to main desktop by Alt+hold left button of mouse (BTW. Thanks for this great option). Some new windows still opens on this not visible desktop (for example mplayer). I have installed desktop pager plasmoid and it thinks that some additional display devices is connected, because it's shape is a bit flatten, the same I could connect something by HDMI to my laptop.

I tried to remove the entry describing new not existing display from configuration file placed in ~/.local/share/kscreen directory. For this purpose I logged off, switched to text terminal and removed entry from this file and also removed row "eDP1" from file ~/.config/plasmashellrc in section:
[ScreenConnectors]
0=DP1
1=eDP1

After reboot (run in terminal) and login again to plasma and unwanted entry back, so also not existing display. When I try to switch off this display in systemsetting then my monitor turns off.

I'm not sure if this is issue made by new intel driver or kscreen.

Software:
Plasma 5.8.3 (kscreen 3.8.3)
xf86-video-intel 1:2.99.917+730+gdad64e9-1
kernel 4.8.8-ARCH
Hardware:
Skylake Intel i7-6700 and graphics HD 530 (GT2)

Use sddm instead of lightdm

Hello,

As the title says, it should be better to use sddm instead of lightdm with the KDE/Plasma desktop. It already have been discussed here a little bit Antergos/antergos-packages#95 but without any change for now. I understand that to achieve the same look on all desktop using the same dm make sense but it's not really optimal and having the same look for the dm is not really important at the end because the desktops don't look the same ! Using the recommended dm of each desktop make more sense even if the look won't be the same. Furthermore lightdm with the lightdm-webkit2-greeter is utterly slow. It's already have been discussed but there is no fix for now.

Thanks !

failed to update the package to version 1.02-2

Hello,

I am currently using yaourt -Syu to update my system and I keep running into a "failed to commit transaction (conflicting file)" after running the command. The issue seems to only be with antergos-kde-setup and the issue seems to be the icon files. I have linked a screen shot of my terminal output for clarification.

Any help would be appreciated

KRunner shows no options Thunderbird

Hi guys. I'm using Antergos and I am using Plasma 5.7. One of the innovations that were announced with version 5.7 was the ability to use KRunner to launch certain actions in applications. In the case of Thunderbird, if I write in KRunner: compose, show me other things but not the option to compose a new email using Thunderbird. The funny thing is I tried KDE Neon and if it works. What do you think might be happening?

Thanks

Default KDE installation greeter (lightdm?) appears to be software accelerated despite nvidia-340xx-libgl et al. being installed?

During graphical login using the default KDE installation greeter, the animations and indeed the general screen response times are so slow that it tends to suggest that software emulation is being used? Is this per design?

Once logged in, the KDE Plasma Desktop is clearly hardware accelerated (Nvidia 8800GT using 340xx drivers).

$ pacman -Q |grep lightdm
lightdm 1:1.18.1-1
lightdm-webkit2-greeter 2.1.3-1
$ pacman -Q |grep nvidia
nvidia-340xx-dkms 340.96-10
nvidia-340xx-libgl 340.96-1
nvidia-340xx-utils 340.96-1
$ lspci -k | grep -A 2 -E "(VGA|3D)"
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G92 [GeForce 8800 GT] (rev a2)
        Subsystem: NVIDIA Corporation Device 053c

Monitor doesn't wake up after turning off by Plasma energy management

Hi

I have up-to-date Angergos, so on today this is:
Plasma 5.8.3 and xf86-video-intel 1:2.99.917+722+g714052f-1 and kernel 4.8.6-ARCH

On my desktop I have set "Safe screen energy" with "Switch off after" 15 min. And when this time expires, monitor goes sleep, so turn off. Great. Unfortunately I'm not able to wake up it. Moving, clicking by mouse doesn't help. The same for keyboard. Also switching to text console doesn't help. Monitor is still turned off. I don't know where the guilty lies. I observe this issue starting Plasma 5.8.2 (also I met it in KaOS on my laptop with Intel HD graphics), but till current update (Plasma 5.8.3) also Intel graphics driver was updated several times.

The workaround is disable turning off the monitor. To restore monitor from turning off mode is blind login no text terminal and killing lightdm or restart the system. This is very annoying issue.

My hardware is following Skylake Intel i7-6700, and graphics HD 530 (GT2)
Laptop is working with Sandy Bridge Intel i5, also with the newest intel graphics drivers.
