I don't have in mind any use case, I only explained better what UnifiedPush is. On the client side it's simply an option for the address where to send POST request or where to listen for new messages.
Maybe @citizenserious has a precise use case in mind. The only one that comes in my mind is where AntennaPod sends a notification when a podcast published a new episode. On the other side something is listening to notify it visually. For example an Home Assistant app, a notification icon on my server, a magic mirror built with a raspberry pi... Everything listening on the same channel can use this info

Running a publicly accessible web server that can receive push messages is not a feasible solution for a phone. See also #5674

UnifiedPush client doesn't start a web server, but it only makes a curl to an UnifiedPush server and/or it listens the related channel waiting for new messages. It's not a server on the phone https://unifiedpush.org/

Hi @ziriuz84, @citizenserious,
Can you say a bit more about your (potential) use-cases?
AntennaPod for sure won't set up a push server (because of the maintenance burden it adds/introduces), and we are not aware of any push servers that send out notifications (to external apps) when an RSS feed is updated. So where would you get the push notification from?
