Often times people ask about how they can better learn or understand the perspectives of those whose identities are more marginalized or differently marginalized than their own.
Currently, this resource is a collection of articles and videos that speak to my experience as a black woman in the tech industry in the Twin Cities.
- "Sorry, nerds--you aren't as oppressed as you think" | Perspective: White male, ally
- "How white women in tech can harness their privilege to help create diversity" | Perspective: Mixed race/white-perceived woman, diversity and inclusion executive
- "Too Many Men Are Silent Bystanders to Sexual Harassment" | Perspective: Male, Phd-holder, military
I believe that the way the media frames stories has a large impact on how the general public talks about stories. Unfortunately, because news rooms lack racial diversity, much of this framing is biased. And this bias enforces racist narratives.
- "These words suggest bias when news describes shooters" | Perspective: Academic research via University of Missouri
- "Why I Ran: Florida Congresswoman Val Demings" | Perspective: Black woman, politician, leader
