site-angulardart's Issues

Bump all dependencies to latest

All dependencies are very old and some have security issues pointed out by Dependabot.

The npm dependencies are not urgent as we don't actually use them in the building process (very little even if we do use them). The ruby dependencies (gems) should be updated first. Most of the blocking issues pointed out in the Gemfile have already been resolved.

This is medium priority, but since I'm not too familiar with how gem works and dependencies are likely going to break the current site, this might take some time.

Github Actions Often Fails

Just putting it here so that in case I go bananas with this stuff, someone might be able help me out. If this is not closed after a week, please help. Use the ready-for-publish branch and focus on this action particular.

Update all reference to pipes

In Angular 7, the pipe syntax has been changed greatly.

Of course, there are also other syntax changes, but I think this one needs to be updated most urgently as this is directly breaking.

Remove references to Google

Apparently we have to get rid of any reference to Google for our site to appear on dart.dev.

In cases where this can have negative effects, at least make it clear that this is now being maintained by the community and not related to Google, neither officially or unofficially.

Feedback on page: Routing Overview (DRAFT)

URL: https://angulardart.xyz/guide/router/

i try to follow tutorial https://angulardart.xyz/tutorial/toh-pt5 and try to define route bring me to guide/router/

but i can`t implement and receive the following error 👍

Because no versions of ngcompiler match >=2.1.2 <2.1.2+0 and ngcompiler >=2.1.2+0 <3.0.0-dev.0 depends on analyzer
^4.2.0, ngcompiler >=2.1.2 <3.0.0-dev.0 requires analyzer ^4.2.0.
And because angular_router >=3.0.0 depends on angular ^7.0.0 which depends on analyzer ^2.0.0, ngcompiler >=2.1.2
<3.0.0-dev.0 is incompatible with angular_router >=3.0.0.
And because angular_router <2.0.0-alpha+16 requires SDK version >=1.24.0 <2.0.0 or >=2.0.0-dev.3.0 <2.0.0 and
angular_router >=2.0.0-alpha+24 <2.0.0 depends on angular ^6.0.0-alpha+1, if ngcompiler >=2.1.2 <3.0.0-dev.0 and
angular_router <2.0.0-alpha+16 or >=2.0.0-alpha+24 <2.0.0 or >=3.0.0 then angular ^6.0.0-alpha+1.
And because angular_router >=2.0.0-alpha+23 <2.0.0-alpha+24 depends on angular ^6.0.0-alpha and angular_router

=2.0.0-alpha+22 <2.0.0-alpha+23 depends on angular ^5.3.0, if ngcompiler >=2.1.2 <3.0.0-dev.0 and angular_router
<2.0.0-alpha+16 or >=2.0.0-alpha+22 <2.0.0 or >=3.0.0 then angular ^5.3.0 or ^6.0.0-alpha.
And because angular_router >=2.0.0-alpha+21 <2.0.0-alpha+22 depends on angular ^5.2.0 and angular_router
=2.0.0-alpha+20 <2.0.0-alpha+21 depends on angular ^5.1.0, if ngcompiler >=2.1.2 <3.0.0-dev.0 and angular_router
<2.0.0-alpha+16 or >=2.0.0-alpha+20 <2.0.0 or >=3.0.0 then angular >=5.1.0 <6.0.0 or ^6.0.0-alpha.
And because angular_router >=2.0.0-alpha+19 <2.0.0-alpha+20 depends on angular ^5.0.0 and angular_router
=2.0.0-alpha+18 <2.0.0-alpha+19 depends on angular ^5.0.0-beta+3, if ngcompiler >=2.1.2 <3.0.0-dev.0 and
angular_router <2.0.0-alpha+16 or >=2.0.0-alpha+18 <2.0.0 or >=3.0.0 then angular >=5.0.0-beta+3 <6.0.0 or
^6.0.0-alpha.
And because angular_router >=2.0.0-alpha+16 <2.0.0-alpha+18 depends on angular ^5.0.0-beta and angular >=0.9.0
<5.0.0-beta+1 requires SDK version <2.0.0 or >=2.0.0-dev.3.0 <2.0.0, if ngcompiler >=2.1.2 <3.0.0-dev.0 and
angular_router <2.0.0-∞ or >=3.0.0 then angular >=5.0.0-beta+1 <6.0.0 or ^6.0.0-alpha.
And because angular_router ^2.0.0 depends on angular ^6.0.0 which depends on logging >=0.9.0 <0.12.0, if ngcompiler
=2.1.2 <3.0.0-dev.0 and angular_router any then logging >=0.9.0 <0.12.0.
Because ngforms >=4.1.1 <5.0.0-dev.0 depends on ngdart ^7.1.1 which depends on ngcompiler ^2.1.2, ngforms >=4.1.1
<5.0.0-dev.0 requires ngcompiler ^2.1.2.
Thus, if ngforms >=4.1.1 <5.0.0-dev.0 and angular_router any then logging >=0.9.0 <0.12.0.
And because build_runner >=2.0.0 <2.4.0 depends on logging ^1.0.0, one of ngforms >=4.1.1 <5.0.0-dev.0 or
angular_router any or build_runner >=2.0.0 <2.4.0 must be false.
And because build_runner >=2.4.0 requires SDK version >=3.0.0-134.0.dev <4.0.0 and angular_app depends on ngforms
^4.1.1, angular_router is incompatible with build_runner >=2.0.0.
So, because angular_app depends on both angular_router any and build_runner ^2.2.0, version solving failed.

i can finish tutorial on routing, olease update
thank you

Update Lifecycle-Hooks

Would like to update Lifecycle page.

Todo

  • Deprecate OnChanges to AfterChangse
    (#40)
  • Migrate examples to latest angular
  • Change image hooks-in-sequence.png
  • Recreate gif for AfterChanges example.
    (#44)

... please comment what changes you would like ...

Ideas

  • More obvious examples. Better visualization of gifs -> add colors, etc.
  • Make more visible where is the line where host view can be modified. (eg, in image of hooks-in-sequence.png)
  • Better explain why DoCheck is called so many times. What change detection cycle means.

This can be confusing to users:

Detect and act upon changes that Angular can’t or won’t detect on its own

What are these undetectable changes.

  • Mention ChangeDetectionStrategy.
  • Or create follow up article only about change detector and what means when component is dirty.
    (some examples are in markForCheck and markChildForCheck reference pages.)

Example code does not compile

example code: "lib/src/hero_list_component.html (add)" on https://angulardart.xyz/tutorial/toh-pt6#add-the-ability-to-add-heroes contains multiple expressions for the (click) event: <button (click)="add(heroName.value); heroName.value=''"> causing compilation errors. need to move the logic into the "add()" function.

same problem for https://angulardart.xyz/tutorial/toh-pt6#add-the-ability-to-delete-a-hero for the delete example: <button class="delete" (click)="delete(hero); $event.stopPropagation()">x. need to move the logic into the delete() function.

Fix server-communication example compile-time error

Up for grabs issue. Probably an easy fix, but I'm focusing on migrating examples to git submodules now, so just putting it here in case someone has the time for it.

Instructions:

  1. Clone angulardart-community/server-communication. Create a PR there that fixes the issue. Reference this issue in that PR. Also ignore the README.
  2. (Optional, I can do this) After that PR has been merged, in this repo, run git submodule update --remote --merge. If this doesn't work, search for "how to update git submodules". After that, commit the new changes in this repo (git add --all && git commit) and submit a PR to this repo.
