I used both executable and installer for my win 8.1 to scan IP via LAN Connection. I noticed that my net connection disconnected afte 3 mins or so of searching.
Flawless on WIN 7 but not in WIn 8.1
Hope you can see this.
thanks
There are simple (enough) tools to see the MAC address for a given IP (derived from ARP). But it sure would be nice if AngryIP Scanner could display the info per address responding to a ping.
Thanks!
Hello good Sirs,
I've been a long time fan of this software... However couldn't find my backup of it today... so went to the site to download the latest version...
And what gives... Sourceforge is forcing me to install some MALWARE JUNK.
Please get more mirrors up... cuz I won't be downloading this from Sourceforge anymore... I don't want my pc to be full of viruses...
Thanks,
Mylon

Hi, is there any reason why angry could not be made to resolve remote MAC address?
When the scanner cant pull back any thing other than if the IP address if it is live it would nice to get back the mac.
This could be archived if you could enter in a router/switch SNMP details and just pull back the arp cache. then do a straight forward look up.
if the steps are first ping the range of IP address this would populate the arp cache in the routing device, then pull back the arp cache. then do the matching.
ipNetToPhysicalPhysAddress is a rfc standard MIB to pull back the arp table so, you should not need to worry about the manafacture of device you are polling. You would just need the ip address of the router and the SNMP community string.
The mac address is a useful bit of info to have so if you could retrieve it from remote subnets it would be great.
Is this a possibility? Netsnmp is opensource and can do this very simply, I have included a picture to explain what i mean.
I have noticed on IPscanv2, that I am able to see the mac addresses correctly of devices not on my subnet, But when I use IPscanv3, I can only see the correct mac addresses on my local subnet. I understand why this occurs, but I don't understand why v2 is able to whereas 3 isn't.
I have noticed that the comments field does not display the persisted comment text until one clicks on a row. And it would be good to have an option to link the comment to a MAC address which is unique.

Hello.
I worked on the Italian translation. I try to attach it to this post not having found better method: messages_it.properties.zip
I've translated the strings related to languages in each specific language (Español, not Spanish for 'es'). I think it's a better solution than place them in english.
I also added the string [language.it=Italiano] for when the Italian will be added (I hope) in the list of available languages.
I hope I was helpful.
Thanks for your work.
Roberto.
why is the Vendor name truncated to only 8 characters ?
I have a requirement to run this from command prompt or as a scheduler which runs at regular intervals and keep on exporting the data to a text file. Data from that text file can then be imported in database using a saperate program. Please suggest if this is possible and how to go about it.
Thanks for your help.
In an attempt to workaround favorite problem as file here :
I found exported file from angrip can not be imported correctly.
Version 3.2.2 does not detect hosts. It will scan through a Class C in about five seconds; it is doing this in one thread. No results found. Previous version 3.2.1 takes about 30 to 45 seconds and does this in ten threads.
HOST:
Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit SP1.
AMD Phenom II x6
Asrock MB
(FWiW I've been using Angry IP for many years so I don't think this is "user error".)
When you select a opener other than the top one in "edit openers", that entry is overwritten by the top entry. Exiting the screen by , [X] or [close] results in a lost entry.
Running v3.3.3 of the application under Slacko 5.6.4 (kernel v3.4.52) with JRE 1.7.0_15 has a few problems... but the first one I'll hit is that the MAC address and MAC vendor information is not displayed; the text "[n/a]" is shown.
However, if I run the same release version of the application under Windows 8.1 and JRE 1.8.0_51, the MAC information IS displayed.
Thanks.
The arp scan is the most functional research to search host in a LAN, because there are many host that for example refuse the connection and not send any packets icmp (in response to a package tcp or udp) that the port is not open. Instead with the arp ping all hosts respond
Is it possible to add option to scan ip range in such format?
2.125.98.1-2.125.99.254
2.126.97.1-2.126.97.254
2.126.99.62-2.126.99.60
There are only ip list scan option.
Any future thoughts on building this awesome tool for android devices in future ?
On Mac OSX, the netmask select dropdown is broken and does nothing to the IP address fields above as it used to do in an older version of Angry IP Scanner.
There is a problem with showing open ports in green color.
I just tried v3.3 & v3.4 and If you select "Hosts with open ports only" in preferences > display, the ip scan result does not show open ports with green color.
however if you set "Alive Hosts (responding to pings) only" in preferences, you can see the host is alive and you can see open ports in "ports [1+]" section. (but the color is still blue)
I tried both 32bit & 64 bit versions but the issue is still exist.
Let me know if it is a bug or a problem on behalf of me.

Hello,
Like we can get the server name using "web detect" is it possible to get website/page's title?
Thanks.

I do have the libXext.so.6 file. How do I get Java to see it?
After the title changes to 100% - IP Range
, it just sits there and does nothing, it never completes. While there is limited information about PING status populated into the display, nothing else is there (such as the port information). The only option available is to click on the stop button at which time it will do nothing, press again and it comes back with Scan Incomplete and a bunch of red bubbles next to each entry.
I have lowered all thresholds to 100 ms and number of requests to 1 just to see if that's the reason its hanging, because each thread is waiting to complete but not the case and in any case leaving it running long enough should result in TIMEOUT if that was the case, but neither is happening.
So do we know what's going on? This is on Windows 10 x64 BTW. Just curious.
When trying to open AngryIP on Ubuntu 14.04 64 Bit I get a "Failed to load native code. Probably you are using a binary built for the wrong OS or CPU". I downloaded the 64 bit version and already had OpenJDK 7 installed. In fact, previous versions were working perfectly.
Perfect to the point of downloading the AngryIP Deb package, installing and running it.
But with 3.3 I am getting this error.
I tested with 3.2.3, 3.2.2 and 3.2.1. All working perfectly. If you need any additional information please let me know. I am using the OpenJRE 7 that comes with 14.04.
When selecting Geo Locate an error 404 occurs... Page not found (http://angryip.org/iplocate.php)
hey! cant scan with fritzbox 7490. any help? neither setting all ports open doesnt match.
thx a lot in advance.
Old feature request from sourceforge.net
Mac OS X 10.10.5 IP Scanner 3.2.1
When I scan with combined method, all IPs return as alive. No other scanners work. Happens on latest version as well.
How do I fix it?
Thanks!
Hi, got this error without any CPU or system version logic. On my machine with Windows 10/64 32 bit version running fine, when 64 giving that error. However, on 2012R2 server this is vice versa. Tried on different 64 machines and got the same error without any logic. Tried to install on all of them the latest Java, but got the same issue.
TTL of most Windows PCs should be=128
TTL of most routers/Linux should be=64
TTL stopped working correctly between version 3.2 and 3.4
I tried to update from v3.2.1 (which was working fine) running Mavericks but it doesn't open. I get a dialog that says '"Angry IP Scanner" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.' with "Cancel" and "Move to Trash" buttons. This is the same dialog I get when XProtect has detected malware.
I've tried downloading a fresh copy and unzipping it with a couple of other utilities with no change. I've examined the file and nothing appears to be missing or corrupt. I am running Jave SE 6 1.6.0_65-b14-462.
After a scan has completed, Tools > Selection: none of these options work.
Greetings...
First time poster ancient fan here.
This is neither an issue nor a pull request... so pardon the out of topic mode.
This is more a feature request.
I would like to suggest, beside the dead, alive and all status filter... please provide one that list KNOWN ip. So for instance... If first time scan yield 20 ip.
Any scan done later, unless there is an addition, must also yield 20 ip... consisting alive and dead host.
That way AngryIP can be use as monitoring as well.
If the known ip is really no longer use, status can always be declare as "available" for instance.
That's about all I'd like to ask.
I wish I know java... and contribute in a more useful way.
Many thanks in advance
Paul

OS: OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
Scanner version: 3.3.2
When setting the Display options (Preferences or per scan) to only display Alive Hosts, a scan of a range of IP addresses will display all addresses in the range. The only indication that a host may not really be alive is a ping response time of 0 ms.
failed to load native code.probably you re using a binary for wrong cpu or os.
However I am using a 64 bit os .I tried the same with 32 bit binary and its the same.
here are the installer logsL:

Greetings,
Could you please make Angry IP scanner accept URLs like example.com? I want to scan lists of them from files. I see they work with ping in terminal, so I'm hoping it will be easy.
Thanks
this would be very nice
Hi,
Command line interface seems to be broken:
Command line I run:
java -jar ipscan-win32-3.3.1.exe -sq -f:range 192.168.1.10 192.168.1.10 -o result.txt
Results I get:

I have been running the latest version of Angry IP Scanner (v3.4.1) on my iMac running OS X v10.11.4 (15E65) since it's release and today attempted to add an Opener when I discovered a very bad, unrecoverable programming error. I wanted to add SMB to the Openers and yet regardless of the method used, i.e. right-click in results window -> Open -> Edit openers... or Menu -> Commands -> Open -> Edit openers..., simply moving the cursor down the original default list of Openers, automatically replaces them with the Web Browser and there is no way to cancel or restore the Openers. I have uninstalled the app, deleted my Trash, downloaded the latest version again, installed and executed the app from a different directory, but the app somehow remembers the automatic and erroneous deletion of all Openers, with the exception of the Web Browser and remembers my custom settings! How do I get the default Openers back? Also, most of the time when I quit the app it hangs and I must use the 'Force Quit' option. Now it is not showing the router with a green dot, it's blue; what do these dot colors represent? There is NOTHING in help or the web site to explain. I'm adding Openers, but they do not work.
Using OS X (Maverick) Angry IP only displays the MAC of the host.
within terminal "arp -a" displays the MAC address of every device not he network
Hosts that are live and responding to pings still have a question mark.
Tools > Download plugins
I just had to download version 3.3.2 (x64) after my 2.x version was deleted by my antivirus software. In attempting to recover all of my custom openers, I noted that whatever opener I select from the "Edit openers..." feature is overwritten by whatever is in the initial opener in the list. All other openers are now lost from my configuration, as it appears that duplicates are deleted upon clicking "Close".
Thanks!
