Before you begin, ensure you have met the following requirements:
- Node.js: You need Node.js installed on your machine. You can download it from nodejs.org.
Follow these steps to set up and run the TMDB Movie App:
- Clone the repository:git clone https://github.com/your-username/tmdb-movie-app.git
- Navigate to the project directory
- Install project dependencies: npm install
- Start the development server: npm start Open your web browser and visit http://localhost:3000 to access the app.
- Home Page: The home page displays trending movies for the day or week. You can toggle between "Today" and "This Week."
- Discover Movies: Explore movies by genre by clicking on the "Discover" link in the navigation.
- Search Movies: Use the search bar to search for movies by title or keywords.
- Movie Details: Click on a movie card to view detailed information about a movie, including its cast, crew, release date, and synopsis.
- Pagination: Navigate through multiple pages of movie results using the pagination controls at the bottom of the page.
To fetch movie data from TMDB, you will need to obtain an API key. Follow these steps to get your API key:
- Visit the TMDB website: https://www.themoviedb.org/.
- Create an account or log in to your existing account.
- Go to your account settings and select the "API" section.
- Create a new API key for your application.
- Copy your API key and replace the placeholder in your project's configuration. // .env.local REACT_APP_TMDB_API_KEY=your-api-key-here
