A gallery of wallpapers for goats.

Installation

on ArchLinux

one can use the custom PKGBUILD for goats as follows:

git clone https://github.com/goatfiles/pkgbuilds
cd ./pkgbuilds
./install.sh x86_64/goat-wallpapers-git

on another distribution of Linux

Makefile and instructions *coming soon*

Usage

The wallpapers are installed by default in /usr/share/backgrounds/goat-wallpapers-git.

Try having a look at them with feh /usr/share/backgrounds/goat-wallpapers-git/ for instance!

Ownership.

These wallpapers come from the internet. Diffusion and usage rights are not known for all of them. I do not own any of the wallpapers listed in this repo.

If you stumble upon art or photos that you own or that you know and show that special rights have to be used to use or share them, let me known and I will remove them immediately and without question!

the README needs an update

Since we moved from my personal dotfiles to the goatfiles, a few things are not correct anymore:

  • the top level description needs to be rewritten
  • mentions to "my" and "amtoine" need to be replaced with mentions to "us" and "goatfiles"

The major part of the work happens in generate_preview.sh as the README is generated automatically with that script 👍

Wallpapers are not all the same size

My goal with this repo and this collection is to have pure 1920 by 1080 pixels wallpapers.

However, even if most of them are UHD wallpapers, a great part of them are not, which is not very coherent as a whole single collection.

I would like to:

  • resize all the wallpapers to 1920x1080
  • put them all in ./wallpapers/1920x1080/. Maybe one day i'll have a huge monitor and ./wallpapers/3840x2160/ to fill it 🤷 😋
