rails_modular_monolith_demo's Introduction

Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹, I'm David

Iโ€™m a software engineer with over 15 years of experience. I have worked on hundreds of code bases, partnered with companies, and launched several products of my own.

Currently, I am building a workflow infrastructure for developers. It's called Embed Workflow. It enables companies to offer a native workflow builder to their product's end-users in minutes.

  • ๐Ÿ”ญ Iโ€™m currently working on Embed Workflow.
  • ๐Ÿ’ฌ Ask me about self-funding startups, anything workflows, scaling with ruby, ruby on rails, modularizing monolith applications, vanilla JS, AMQP, building a UI component library

rails_modular_monolith_demo's Issues

Configuration block is not really scoped by engine

Hi!

I was following your article on this topic and found out that when you run

ConnectBy.configure do |config|
  config.application_controller = "ApplicationController"
end

the object you yield is actually a subclass of Rails::Engine, not an instance of it. This means that if you have multiple initializers that configure multiple engines they're all going to overwrite whatever the previous initializer configured.

You can give it a try by adding another engine (let's say... ChatBy) and trying to setup a different application_controller for it. You'll find that now ConnectBy will have the application_controller you set for ChatBy.
