If we cannot get ahold of the source code; we might be able to use the
precompiled binaries from Android (the libvpu and dependent libs) and write a
wrapper for video acceleration... maybe.
That could be hard to achieve, but it is doable I think.
Are we missing the VPU code from the kernel source? (I saw the config option
for VPU; but I did not look for the source and did not try to compile it)

Among the mini pcs, I find the minix Neo G4 to be very well designed and hope
can run PicUntu on it too.
Since its also based on RK3066, the only thing that need to be added are
probably the device drivers.
The company Minix also seem very keen to work with the developers.
And looking at the good support from Minix, I really look forward to being able
to run a low powered and well designed mini pc on Linux.

In documentation I found "Installed both, 8188eu (for UG802) and bcm41081 (for
MK808) modules" but internet does not know what is "bcm41081".
Digging I found here
http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechforum/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=212&start=330#p4259
:
"About the BCM40181: it's an evolution of the BCM 4329/4330 but you won't find
any datasheet for it.
So: RK901=BCM40181 (Wifi only) and RK903=BCM40183 (Wifi + Bluetooth)."
I have bought MK808 but received MK808B. Today used latest
picuntu-linuxroot-0.9-RC2.1.tgz + ug802recovkernel.img and 'picuntu-da-server'
configuration tool (of course I selected MK808 insead UG802). After finishing
configuration and reboot lsmod shows that '8188eu.ko' is loaded (I guest there
should be something like 'BCM40181'). Internal WiFi does not work :/.
Ok, I'm waiting for RK903=BCM40183 support.

What feature is required
Support for other display resolutions, there are many people without fullHD
monitor, I personally have old 1280x1024@60 (16:10) monitor with DVI port (HDMI
compatible) which I would like to use with MK808 as a desktop.
Describe what component of PicUntu needs to be changed
Some configuration file? It would be needed to find a working way how to set
different resolutions succesfully.
What is the desired output
Way to set different resolutions, it would be good if it wouldnt include using
another compatible monitor firstly to change to desired resolution.
Where do we find resources on the net, to include this feature
Unfortunately I have no idea.
Are there any references, links on the site that have discussions for this.

I got a LevelOne usb-0501 usb/ethernet hub, but even though the correct module
(smsc95xx) is loaded on MK802 III and ifconfig shows the usbnet0 device, it
doesn't seem to receive an ip address. Sometimes I get a usbnet0: kevent 2 may
have been dropped (also shown in dmesg). Googling that message suggests add
external power, disabling turbo mode (smsc95xx.turbo_mode=N) or raise the
vm.min_free_kbytes value in /etc/sysctl.conf. Nothing seems to help. Also tried
a static ip, but also no luck.
I have tested the device on Mint Linux, Arch Linux, and Android on a ASUS
Transformer TF300T, and all of them works out of the box, with no problems.
They all got much newer kernels, so I guess something has changed since the
3.0.8+ series.

You can guess the reason why I'm proposing this. :-(
Still not sure exactly what happened, but I think it was some combination of
Ctrl+C and Ctrl+Z to exit the script, and than switching to another window
without checking what happened.
Luckily, testdisk helped to recover almost everything, but next user might not
be so lucky.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Using the RK901 Internal WiFi
2.Leaving the device idle/unattended
3.No internet activity
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
WiFi Network is Disconnected, need to restart networking to connect again
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
PicUntu 0.9 RC2.2 on MK808
Please provide any additional information below.
Not sure if this is a widespread problem, or just me.
But the WiFi has been disconnecting if I leave the device unattended/idle with
no internet activity for a long period or a few hours(random)
I did a few tests and monitoring my connecting via iwconfig in terminal. I
noticed that the Tx-Power fluctuates between 29 dBm and 32dBm randomly at
times, so i'm speculating that maybe that may be the cause?
So I got a hunch and used the iwconfig txpower fixed command via terminal at
the beginning of each linux bootup. 'iwconfig eth0 txpower 32 fixed'
So far so good, WiFi hasn't drop yet. Will keep on testing.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Flash kernel into recovery
2. Reboot to recovery from Android
3. Reboot from Picuntu
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Device should reboot into Android but instead it always reboot to Picuntu. I
have to flash original recovery to reboot to Android.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I'm using a MK808 with Finless 1.6. I tried RC2.2 kernel and RC3.
Please provide any additional information below.

manage to boot Android after unplugging and plugg

picuntu-linuxroot-0.9-RC2.2.tgz and wants to know its location.
If this file is in the same directory than the script?
It should be detected automatically.
If picuntu-linuxroot-0.9-RC2.2.tgz is in a directory,
lets say /root/Downloads:
The script should find
/root/Downloads/picuntu-linuxroot-0.9-RC2.2.tgz
if this file exists, if the file is readable for user/group/others and
if the script is told to search in /root/Downloads.
The RC2 now asks to question over and over again ...

allow udev to automatically create the device /dev/srX (and therefore

the devices are detected, but the corresponding /dev entries are not created
