This is a FastAPI project that aggregates data from News API and Reddit.
- Install python virtaul environment if you dont have by running
sudo pip3 install virtualenvon a Linux or Mac - Clone this repository by running
git clone https://github.com/alleneben/news-aggregator-api.git - Change directory into the project using
cd news-aggregator-api - Run
virtualenv envin the project root directory to create the virtaul environment - Activate the environment by running
source env/bin/activate - Create a
cfg.inifile in the project root directory - Copy and paste the content of
cfg_default.iniintocfg.iniand save the changes - Add your
USERNAMEandPASSWORD - Visit News API and generate an API Key
- Copy and paste the generated API Key into
cfg.inias the value forNEWSAPI_API_KEYand save the changes - In the project root directory run
pip3 install -r requirements.txtto install all dependencies for the application - Finally run
python3 main.py - Visit http://127.0.0.1:8000/docs
This api uses the HTTP Basic Auth i.e. a base64-encoded username:password string for authentication.
