In this article I'd like to cover briefly how turning my attention elsewhere allowed me to "fall behind" where I'd like to be technically.

Article goals:

• Document gaps in my knowledge and where the market is going
• List tools & resources I'm using to fill gaps

To get this site up quickly a few years back I relied on a pretty powerful Jekyll theme known as So Simple. This has served my purposes very well and on a recent migration to Netlify I took the opportunity to update the theme and a few dependencies (See #10).

However it's not a great look for a design-focused engineer to be rolling a common theme. I should try to migrate off of So Simple in favor of something more custom.
