The SIGSEGV seems to be caused by a typo:
Lines 2628 to 2629 in 37e4822
which says
fileClose(stream1) instead of fileClose(stream2). However, even after fixing that, saving doesn't work, instead, the game gives an error message

After turning on debug prints, I got the following
LOADSAVE: ** Error writing save function #3 data! **
I tracked it down to an early exit in _GameMap2Slot due to the problematic condition fileNameListLength == 0 being true
