True Field of View 🔭

A web application for calculating and visualizing the True Field-of-View (TFOV) of celestial objects based on different astronomy setups (telescopes, cameras, and eyepieces). Get valuable information about the precise angular and visual diameter of dedicated celestial objects (and their respective astronomical units), choose different visualization options, check tonight's local weather forecast, select presets off the shelf, and much more.

Add database for JSON files (MongoDB or alternative)

Add onHover posters for form items, forecast and celestial object (only name of object, the info will display when selected; see other issue)

For the form inputs, there should be posters that describe more in detail what the units are. F.ex "Pixel size μm²".
For the celestial objects (messier, planets, moons), there should be a onHover poster describing their distance from earth (AU), diameter, apparent magnitude, etc.

Canvas rendering does not scale well when zooming or reducing screen size

Big problem. Tried many things, will try more things.

Add tests

when an object is selected, display the planet info as a banner over/under the canvas

Add method for users to add form data to the database (server)

For crowds, once a day is enough. For forecast, once every hour is enough.

Progressive image loading

Just use the component I did for my cv, and find the best way to get/set the images.

Add "user history" feature pop up on submit

Should be piece of cake with Redux in place.

The user can click the various "history items" to return to previous states. Maybe localStorage.setItem(key, value) and localStorage.getItems(key), or another way to cache and retrieve past formdata.

Add option to choose desired angular unit for the chart

Now, it automatically detects what the angular unit of the chart should be, based on the form submission. It should still do this, but a cool feature would be to enable users to switch between Degrees, Arc Minutes, and Arc Seconds post submission.
