Maybe it's useful to "remember" the set of journals one selects. If one goes to the website next time, s/he will see the same set of journals s/he selected last time.

That's because people may not be interested in the whole set of journals. During 99% of time, they will drop journals A, B, C. If the website can remember the choice, users have no need to drop these journals every time.

The early links of ej (ecj/econjl) seems to be broken.

This is a problem of the original data, repec. Nothing can be done with it at this moment.

Some authors are missing in the data, probably due to some bugs in author parsing code.

Some links are directed to the specific journal issue rather the paper per se.

E.g.

ej2015: http://hdl.handle.net/10.1111/ecoj.2015.125.issue-583 -> https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ecoj.12227

Update: It seems that there are also some broken links are from ej.
