python3 client about aerospike-client-python HOT 3 CLOSED

The Python (2.6-2.7) client is nearing a feature-complete state, so we are discussing different options for what comes next. Several people have asked for an async client, not necessarily for Python3, but combining those efforts is possible. That said, we are glad to help anyone from the community work on a native-client written in Python (Ruby and Go make for good references for that approach).

The short answer is, we're not sure yet, but it's in active discussion. And this being open source, the code and our assistance is available for all.

Our first step is to support Python3, period.

Whether or not the underlying client, or the API, should be async is a more complex question. There are a lot of async frameworks in every language. Asyncio is certainly an interesting library, especially for a single-core system like Python.

Expect us to split this feature request into two parts, and deliver Python3 first.

Since there are possible to run a longtime tasks (scans and queries, udfs) at aerospike, the asyncio features implementation to the aerospike client (support for yeild from construction) will be a great improvement for further projects.
