voyager's Issues

Implement comment sorting and text formatting options

Lemmy has the following comment sorting and text formatting options in their native web UI app
Screenshot 2023-06-26 at 2 12 18 PM

It'd be awesome if this was implemented and Apollo had the comment sorting in the following screenshots and it'd be easier if it was implemented that way

Open external links in the default browser app instead of always chrome (Android)

wefwef is amazing and is working very well for me on Android. One issue is that it uses the internal Chrome browser to open external links and may not be using Android's settings. Chrome for Android has no plugin support and links are ad riddled compared to Firefox with uBlock origin and private mode by default. Is there a chance to use the default user selected browser, instead of always Chrome?

Configurable gestures

Apollo had configurable gestures and I think it's a pretty useful thing to be able to customize. Screenshot from Apollo for reference:

Add different post view options

It would be amazing to have multiple options to view posts, such as cards, small cards and list. Would it be possible since it's a web app?

Thank you!

Wefwef Instance list

Hi, great app! Not sure if you plan to include a list of public Wefwef instances. If you do, please add mine. Thank you!

Default comment sort

Now that comment sort is implemented, there should be the ability to set a default comment sort.

"Forward" gesture in view stack?

Not sure if I'm using the right terminologies, apologies in advance.

In Apollo, while viewing a post, if I edge swipe right to go back to the subreddit by accident, I can edge swipe left to go back to the post on the view stack. Similarly, if I was in a subreddit, and I accidentally edge swipe right to go back to the subreddit list, I can edge swipe left to go back to the subreddit I was in.

In Wefwef, it would be really cool if there was a similar stack of views, such that we can move back and forth on different views: Communities list <> Community <> Thread <> etc..

Device: iPhone 14 Pro Max
OS: 16.5.1
Browser: Safari

Saving and viewing saved posts/comments?

Is there a way to view posts and comments which have been saved?

I expect to see "Saved" under "Posts" and "Comments" like the Lemmy web app, but can't find it anywhere in Wefwef.

PWA Issues

On Android 13, there is no option to install the PWA on chrome and the firefox install has a blank white icon.

No way to get back to main feed from Communities view

This one's pretty annoying, basically if you browse the main feed and somehow press "back" by accident or click the top left Communities button, there's no way to get back to where you were in the main feed. Pressing "Back" again will exit the app...

One option would be to make the bottom Posts button reopen the main feed where it was.

Repro: open app, click on Communities and pick one, scroll around/click around, press back, and your "stuck" in Communities

Posts should be in redux

Because when you click a post, technically you get a new version (with potentially more votes).

The original summary feed item should get updated when this happens, because they should pull from the same data source.

Allow hiding posts

I know this isn’t a thing natively supported by Lemmy, but the inability to hide posts really bothers me. The app could internally remember posts that have been hidden and just not display them to the user.

This might mess with paging, but should generally be alright.

Unreadable Status Bar in Light Mode

The time, battery indicator etc. are White, regardless of whether the device is in Light or Dark Mode.

The text (and icons) should be Black when in Light Mode, and White when in Dark Mode.

Edit font size

Would love to be able to adjust the font size. The app is amazing and thank you!

Compact post feed view

Compact post view placeholder. I'm going to start working on this right after I finish editing comments.

Please allow 2FA Prompt on login page

Attempting to sign-in to the instance Lemmy.fmhy.ml, but it gives me an error. It’s because the 2FA prompt is unavailable. I have disabled 2FA and I’m signed in.

Tried from both iPhone and iPad on iOS 16.5.1
Error says “check credentials and try again”

Thank you for your time and love the site!

Profile page ellipse

There should be a profile page ellipse on the top right when not yourself with options like apollo (message/block/share/etc).

Create posts

Maybe (or maybe not) with image upload. Might split into separate issue tbd.

Text faces

It would be cool to have a text faces selector. Options:

Add ability to cross-post

It would be really nice to have a button when clicked inside a post to cross post the link to another community. Maybe next to the upvote, downvote and save buttons?

Community sidebar

After I've subscribed to a community, there's no way of seeing the subscriber counts or any other info about the community. Maybe I haven't found it yet? There's no sidebar that's hidden?

Please check your credentials and try again

I'm trying to login (iOS, app "installed" to home screen) to lemmy.world and I always get "please check your credentials and try again". I'm sure that my credentials are correct (password manager) and I even changed my password and tried again - no luck.

I don't have access to any kind of logs so 🤷 it's just a "this doesn't work for me" issue - hope you have some kind of insight

thank you for this, it's a very good idea - fills the gap between now and proper ios app perfectly!

Implement spoiler tag support

:::spoiler

(stuff here)

:::

is supported by lemmy. It appears to be custom spoiler markup? So might need to implement our own markdown plugin. :/

Community links double nested <a>

Help welcome on this. But it's not a trivial bug (at least, for me). I've spent too much time in mdast/unist/unified land and a set of new eyes would be appreciated, especially if you have experience with syntax tree parsing.

https://wefwef.app/search/lemmy.world/c/[email protected]/comments/614681

Basically you get nested anchor tags because of the custom built plugin (buildCommunityPlugin.tsx).

This code for markdown parsing of Lemmy community links is super hacky. Basically I hack the gfm autolinker to NOT parse "email-like" strings that start with !, otherwise because it always runs first, it will parse before the custom plugin can run.

Then the custom plugin runs, and it's hacky and needs refactor because it creates nested anchor elements.

Favourite communities

The three dot menu in communities could have a Favourite button to add it to a higher section within the communities section for faster access.

Kbin login support

Was hoping to see kbin login support as well if it’s not too hard to implement
