I was attempting first to install py.saunter via easy_install and received the error:
error: Could not find suitable distribution for Requirement.parse('pytest-marks>=0.3')

So I attempted to just install pytest-marks. see below. any help would be greatly appreciated.

py.test change internal implementation a bit

Currently on PyPI only an egg for 2.7 is provided, so the distribution can only be installed on Python 2.7 and only with easy_install; not pip.

python setup.py sdist upload

I think should do it and then a lot more people will be able to install it more easily.

Because py.saunter depends on this, that is also limited to Python 2.7.

In latest pytest MarkInfo init was changed and now it's try to create a copy of kwargs. I don't know is it pytest bug or marks bug but I think it would be easly fixed by changing MarkInfo instance creation:
info = MarkInfo(mark, None, None) to info = MarkInfo(mark, None, {})
