Looks like the Windows version has problems with some of the dependencies with Chef 12.2 (current version in AWS Opswork).

Do you have any workarounds?

tar_extract node['dotnetcore']['package']['tar'] do
  target_dir '/opt/dotnet'
  creates '/opt/dotnet/dotnet'
end

seems to be the culprit. Because of creates, the tar_extract resource does not extract the new tarball.

I noticed you use a different installer than the one linked for download here:

Just curious how you see the relationship between this bundle and the one you're using to install. Are they complementary?

First time installation goes through fine and subsequent installations fails with error code 1638.
Could the script be adjusted to skip it if its already installed ? I would like this to be part of a run list .
Newbie to chef, if there is a way to avoid it, let me know

Is there a reason the apt dependency is pinned to such an old version of the apt cookbook?

latest release would be: cookbook 'apt', '~> 5.0.0'

I'm reworking this cookbook for the recently released .NET Core v2.0.0. Here's some of the things I'm planning to do:

• update package sources to packages.microsoft.com across all platforms
• remove the dotnet :run action on the resource provider (as it doesn't really make sense)
• support for installing either sdk or runtime packages

Let me know what else we should support in terms of the Chef ecosystem.

It looks like everything was uploaded with boilerplate "All Rights Reserved" and a few other placeholder texts are still there. If that's the intended license and not something more open-source friendly please clarify.
