it87's Issues

it87: Unknown symbol vid_from_reg

When I try to load the module I get this in dmesg

[ +37.075711] it87: Unknown symbol vid_from_reg (err -2)
[ +0.000035] it87: Unknown symbol vid_which_vrm (err -2)

how to resolve this ?

Fan Control

I'm trying control my fan speeds.
I'm only able to change between 2 speeds, either 100% (0-127) or 0-50% (128-255).

in the readme you mention change the pwmN_frequency to get more control. will this help?

either way what are the limites of setting the frequency?

Could not insert 'it87': Device or resource busy

Hi,

Any idea why i cannot load this module? I tried both dkms and regular compilation methods and the result is the same. I get the ITE device address using sensors-detect

Found `ITE IT8686E Super IO Sensors' Success!
    (address 0xa40, driver `to-be-written')
root@pve:~/it87-master# modprobe it87 force_id=0xa40
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'it87': No such device

Thanks.

Minor: Kernel 6.5: create it87.ko.zst

I just got Ubuntu Linux 23.10 with Kernel 6.5 and compiled the module again from the sources.
First it didn't work. Then I realized that it had copied the .ko file to the modules directory. After compressing it with
sudo zstd it87.ko
and overriding the existing file it worked again. Maybe you could include that in the build process.

it87: forgets sensors on restart

At first installation it works and my system can detect all sensors. But after each restart i have to dkms_clean and dkms again to make my Arch Linux installation see the sensors

RGB control with it8792e or it8686e

I have a motherboard X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING and I want to control digital RGB(address RGB) through Linux Manjaro, the kernel 4.19. How can i do this?

Found unknown chip with ID 0x8220

Any idea what that chip is and can it be supported?
It's on an ASUS MINIPC PN52.

Trying family `National Semiconductor/ITE'... Yes
Found unknown chip with ID 0x8220

8587

Any chance of supporting 0x8587? All Clevo laptops use this to control the fan.
