Shariff Wrapper

This is the development repository for the WordPress plugin Shariff Wrapper (https://wordpress.org/plugins/shariff/), which has been developed by Jan-Peter Lambeck (https://www.jplambeck.de) and 3UU (https://datenverwurstungszentrale.com).

Contribute

Pull requests are more than welcome, especially for new services. You can use the shariff-example-service.php to get started. All service specific elements need to be included in this file. Please always create a separate pull request for each service, feature or bug fix.

Facebook share: opened windows does not close after share

Not sure if anyone else encountered this problem yet: If you share your article with facebook, the new window / tab opened for sharing it does not close after the article has been shared to FB.

Changing in shariff/services/shariff-facebook.php line 13 from
$button_url = $service_url . '?u=' . $share_url;
to
$button_url = $service_url . '?=100&p[url]=' . $share_url;
does close the window though. I found this undocumented way of generating the URL on stackoverflow.

Missing rel="noopener" on shariff buttons with target="_blank"

Dear team,

since shariff is using links with target="_blank" you should add rel="noopener" for all of those links that open in a new window to improve security and performance.

Please take a look at:

Chrome has fixed this vulnerability long time a go, but e.g. firefox is still vulnerable.

Social share box showing in RSS Feed

I'm getting the Shariff social share box html showing at the end of every blog post content in the Wordpress RSS feed.

Add support for overriding or adding new services in selected theme

I needed to modify the code of the services built into the plugin, and to have the ability to create my own services. So I added the following to my site's version of Shariff Wrapper, copied from the em_locate_template() function of the Events Manager plugin (which is distributed under the GPL). You can either use this or create your own version if that license doesn't allow you to include it in your plugin.

Then in your theme folder you create a plugins/shariff/services folder. And create php files prefixed with shariff- that mirror the PHP structure of services included in the plugin.

Wrong french translation

French translation is wrong on several buttons: "Envoyer par" instead of "Partager sur".

Bug in verbindung mit DIV / alignleft/right

ich nutze neben Wordpress noch Piwigo und lasse von dort in Wordpress Bilder anzeigen. Daher hab ich den folgenden Fehler auch erst beim Wordpress, Piwigo2Img und dem Theme gesucht. Der Piwigo2Img-Autor hat mir dann aber die Lösung gezeigt und das Problem bei dem Shariff-Wrapper gefunden.

Wie man sieht sind die Social-Buttons rechts angeordnet - statt drunter (zudem ging der Schrifzug "Twitter" verloren). Auf anderen Content-Seiten klappt das hingen mit drunter. Die Bilder werden hier mit Wordpress-Standardfunktionen angezeigt (das Piwigo-Plugin erstellt nur einfügbaren html-Code). Das Problem besteht nur bei Bildern mit class="wp-caption alignleft" und .right. Center ist kein Problem (nutze ich mit PiwigoPress schon länger ohne Probleme) - bzw. zumindest nicht aufgefallen.

Der Autor von Piwigo2Img hat mir unter http://piwigo.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=165573#p165573 das Problem ermittelt, erklärt und die Lösung genannt;

Ich muss in der shariff.min.css bzw. shariff.css (unterschied?! genutzt wird die min....) folgendes ergänzen:

clear: both;
}

Hab ich gemacht - Klappt! (aktuell zu Demo-Zwecken entfernt!)

Wäre super wenn du dir das Thema mal anschaust und das mit der nächsten Version fixt ... :) Werde das zwar in der CSS schreiben, aber mit den nächsten update ist es ja sonst weg ;)

Remove HTML Tags from title for sharing

WordPress allows to use HTML tags in post titles, so the generated Tweet text for example will contain HTML, which is not correct.

Add a "Connect" widget

Feature request:

Add an additional "Connect" sidebar widget for links to your own social media profiles, mailto and RSS feed.

The connect widget should be independently configurable, with potentially different or other services than the sharing config, different order of services, with potentially different icon design, orientation, ...

This would help to maintain a consistent look and feel for the site, since the same icons and layout can be used for sharing and connect.

See http://nfvblog.net for an example. I created the sidebar social links by scraping the HTML generated by shariff-wrapper, modifying the links and putting the HTML in a sidebar text box.

Share with Mastodon doesn't work

I installed Shariff 4.5.1 as WordPress extension. Share with Mastodon doesn't work.

Versions-Abfrage in der updates.php

Die Versionsabfrage für die Migration <1.7 und <1.9.4 macht im Moment für mich nicht so viel Sinn, weil du da auch auf version_compare() mit $code_version gewechselt bist. Damit wird aber die Migration immer ausgeführt bei einer neuen Version, auch wenn die installierte bereits >1.7 ist. Hab ich da irgendwas übersehen? Eigentlich müsste es statt $code_version an der Stelle doch '1.7' bzw. '1.9.4' heißen.

Achtung: Deine neue Lösung funktioniert so nicht! Aber du hast recht, da ist ein Fehler und zwar eine falsche Klammer. Das restore_current_blog(); muss IN den Loop! So dass nach jedem Switch erst einmal wieder zurückgestellt wird, ansonsten läuft man in Probleme in der Linkgenerierung!

Mobile Icons are shown but quickly disappear

thanks for your awesome Plugin.

I got one Problem with it, on desktop machines (my Browser is Chrome)

I see the Whatsapp and Threema Logo really quick, but after like 1sec I see them disappear.

This is a bit confusing for the user I think. So maybe you could add an fix to this which checks at first if the user is mobile/tablet or desktop.

Shariff buttons shown within loop

I have the following setting:

Shariff is only enabled for the 'post' type
On my main page (a 'page'), I have some custom theme logic running (via a shortcode) that creates a new WP_Query(...), iterates over the query via while ($query->have_posts()) and adds content for each query via apply_filters('the_content', do_shortcode(wpautop($post_excerpt)))
I only iterate over posts

Until one of the previous versions, no Shariff buttons were added on the main page (as intended, in my case). However, with version 4.6.13, they are added to every post the loop iterates over. More precisely, the the_content filter adds them.

I digged into the code and the last diff (https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/3069111/shariff#file37) and I think I have found the culprit:

In https://github.com/3UU/wordpress-shariff-wrapper/blob/master/shariff/shariff.php#L589, the call to get_post_type() refers to the current loop post, so in my case the post type is always post. However, the is_singular( 'page' ) check refers to the page on which the query is applied to (the main page), so is_singular( 'page' ) returns true. This doesn't seem to be the intention of the code. In the previous version, there were different if-blocks: If is_singular( 'page' ), it was checked for $shariff3uu['add_before']['pages'], and if is_singular( 'post' ), it was checked for isset( $shariff3uu['add_before'][ $current_post_type ]. Now, it's always checked for $shariff3uu['add_before'][ $current_post_type ].

shariff-wrapper inherits box-shadow from twenty seventeen

When using shariff-wrapper with the WP 4.7 default twenty seventeen theme, the social icons inherit a box-shadow CSS attribute.

I have switched this off with a piece of custom CSS:
