Updated and tested code to work with these dependencies:
Node: 0.4.5
NPM: 0.3.18
Express: 2.2.2
Faye: 0.5.5

Requires Node and NPM

curl http://nodejs.org/dist/node-latest.tar.gz | tar xz --strip-components=1

make install # ok, fine, this step probably takes more than 30 seconds...
curl http://npmjs.org/install.sh | sh


Requires Express and Faye
npm install express
npm install faye


Once installed, run node server.js to start the server on port 8000

In a browser open localhost:8000/client.html
In a terminal, run one of the followingÉ

post to server with json:
curl -X POST -H "Content-Type:application/json" -d '{"message": "hello pub sub dudes"}' http://localhost:8000/message


post to server with form data:
curl -X POST -H "Content-Type:application/x-www-form-urlencoded" -d 'message=hello form' http://localhost:8000/message
