Running micro throws error about micro HOT 9 CLOSED

Could you run micro -version too, because micro should fall back to ASCII now if the character set is unknown. Maybe you have an older version?

Yes, version 9603baa is before #45 got fixed with commit 4f6a686. Try reinstalling micro.

Yup the linux binary should be up to date.

Also, using a UTF-8 encoding should always work.
