We have released 1.7.005 which should address this. Might take some time for it to appear on google play.

I've been having the same problem for at least a year. I have tried everything I could possibly think of. I can view live feed in zmninja but not events. The events show up with a thumbnail in the events screen but if I try to play one, it shows a dark gray image with a black play button and a cloud download icon and it never loads. I gave up trying to get help on the forums, no one there knows anything besides "idk works for me"

I'm the only one even trying to make it work. It's slow going. Feel free to send a log dump here and I'll take a look.

If there are any other logs or data you need to get a better idea of what's going on, please let me know. This issue started happening after I updated from Debian 11 to Debian 12 and I've been trying to fix it ever since.

Note that the latest version of appimage also has this exact same problem for me.

I think I found something. When I manually access the same api url hat zmninja tries to access from a browser, that url might be: http://192.168.1.22/zm/index.php?view=view_video&mode=mpeg&format=h264&eid=12666. Pasting that url into any browser will result in an unplayable video file and firefox says "no video with supported mime type found". However if I right click "save video as..." and download the video despite it being on a mime error screen, I can acttually play that file on my computer in vlc.

I don't know how to use ffmpeg to convert a video format to a different one with an acceptable mime type (or perhaps no mime, isn't mime a form of drm?) but if I figure that one out, I'll see if I can then manually convert it on the server and access the video from a browser then post the results.

Edit: I can now confirm that this bug is actually being caused by mime issues. Replacing the file "12666-video.hevc.mp4" at the location the video file is stored with a known working one that works when you try to view it in the browser will actually work when view in zmninja 1.7.006. I still have not figured out how to use ffmpeg to convert the original video into one without mime errors but if I do, I'll be able to hack up a script that unborks all the mime borked video files like once a day.

I solved it. The problem was that my videos were being saved as h265 because my camera was set to pass-through and the camera was outputting h265 which seems to be less compatible with stuff than h264. I fixed this by going into the settings for that camera then going to "recording", the changing video writer from "pass through" to "encode". I then selected libx264 as the encoder and now it finally works.
