How could it be related to apktool, if you didn't even use it? :-) And I'm
pretty
sure, that after using it you will have exactly the same problems.
It is really weird because such repacking should not change anything. I have
some
idea: Google's apps use signatures to authorize themselves to others and maybe
these
signatures do not match after doing changes. But it's just a guess.

Sorry about this issue. :) I can't be sure whether the aapt tool is a part of
apktool
project or not.

aapt is a part of Android SDK.
