It could. The dhsecret isn't used anywhere else so it doesn't really need one. Do you think it would be beneficial anyway for consistency or forward-compatibility?

Oh, I remember why I didn't do this originally: when we were using the scheme based on crypto_box_seal
, I thought that it might be useful to submit a patch back to libsodium for our variant (with the shared ephemeral key and extra nonce, which might be useful more generally). So I didn't want to include anything very protocol-specific. However, that rationale doesn't really apply to the current version, which is different from crypto_box_seal
in several other respects.
