easiest would be to define your own format:

ZSchema.registerFormat('dateobject', function (obj) {
    return obj instanceof Date;
});

Oh, I was under the impression that related to the format key for schemas where type is 'string'.

Default formats that are described in json-schema (like date-time) are indeed related to strings. But that doesn't mean you can't define your own format which can be related to any type that you want. Just remember to use correct type also because

  type: "string",    
  format: "dateobject"    

would of course not pass on type validation.
