Chrome profile setup instructions about chromedriver HOT 6 CLOSED

I agree there should be some documentation covering profiles. However, I 
usually try to discourage custom profiles. Since Chrome updates fairly 
frequently, these profiles can easily get out of date. What use case are you 
thinking of?

In my case, the profile created by chromedriver needs some customization.

I have more than one Flash player plugin on my Linux box. One of them is 
a Flash player debug plugin located in ~/.mozilla/plugins/ folder. 
Somehow, Chrome started by chromedriver loads both Flash plugins, blocks 
all flash content on a web page and displays a message that Flash plugin 
needs to be updated. I do need to have older Flash player plugins for 
backward compatibility testing in Firefox. I am not sure why Chrome is 
looking at the mozilla's plugins.

Anyways, it seems like the easiest option for me is to configure a 
custom profile and pass it to the chromedriver. I am aware that plugins 
will get out of date and Chrome will notify the user and even block 
those plugins if required. So, I will have to run Chrome with that 
profile manually and get updates once in a while.

I am not sure if I can tell chromedriver to get a copy of my profile in 
/home/myname/.config/google-chrome/ instead of creating a new one. That 
would be another option to keep a working and up to date profile.
