@samdark I wasn't thinking opinions, just listening mainly. I'm eager to see the public preview, and know how it can be tough when you're stuck on one design decision for a while, and being able to talk / explain it to a new developer can sometimes help clear up your own thinking.

Absolutely not. Public preview means code that is not even in alpha stadium. There will be many changes on the way to alpha and beta. When you are starting a project now, you should use 1.1.x
When Yii 2 becomes alpha or beta you may decide on how big your project is if you choose it for you project but there will be no backwards compatibility between releases until 2.0 is finally released.

Please be patient. ActiveForm is a crucial piece in Yii. It will serve as the example on how to develop a widget that uses assets. We need to toss around many design decisions. I hope this will be the last major piece before we release public preview.
