OK, I REALLY REALLY want this thing working on SQL Server. I don't like SQL Server, but it's what I'm stuck using at work.
What about using a VM with Windows on it? Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is going to use SQL Server on a non Windows box, so you might as well get it rolling on a VM.

That works. I was a SQL Server champ back in the day.
