Thanks for pointing this out. The question I have is, should XMTPv3 require that all addresses are EIP55 compliant? or should this be handled by individual applications?

The protocol expects that all evm addresses are lowercased. In V2 having EIP55 compliant addresses and lowercase addresses led to conflicts, and so they were normalized. EIP55 directly addresses funds lost because they were sent to a mistyped address, which is not a problem in XMTP. Since addresses where manually entered lowercase was the path of least friction.

Does this logic still hold?

Regardless docs and validation can be handled at the uniffi layer to make this easier for platformSDK implementors
