I think, although I'm not sure, the ChunkyBits repo was created for less frequently used operations.
I think a convolution filter would be great there, and then we can move over a lot of the edge detection, sharpening, etc code people have submitted in to there. I have some convolution code lying around for ChunkyPNG, but it's not very well tested.

Yes I mean convultion filter.
Convultion filter may be faster if implemented algorithm is memoizing partial sums of processed pixels. In naive way we will make NxN operations for each pixels, but this can be reduced to amortizated 1xN for each pixel.
