Has there been any progress on this? I don't see this in the listings documentation.

No news on that.
I think we have to be a little more patient and wait for the next regular update of the listings package. I assume that this julia definition will be part of that next update.

I have just written a mail to Jobst Hoffmann, the current maintainer of the listings package ans asked him to consider your issue within the next maintance process.
Let's see what he will answer.

@bayesthm Great news concerning your suggestion:
Just a few days after I send my mail Jobst Hoffmann wrote me an answer telling me that he will consider the suggestion. He also kindly asked for permission to make use of the example code in the package, which I gave him, of course.
So chances are good that we will see this language definition added to the listings package any time in future when the listing package will be maintained the next time.

Any news on this? Would be great to have this directly with listings! Thanks for providing this package, by the way.

Cool. Until then it also works installing locally, for sure :)

Unfortuantely all I can say is that there has not been any update of the listings package since March 2020. Neither last year nor this year the authors provided any changes to CTAN for the official yearly package updates in March.
That might happen with the next official CTAN updates in March 2023, but we have hardly any chance to force that. All we can do is kindly ask the current maintainer.
You might contact him to show him that the interest in this issue is high, but right now I would assume that he has been too busy to make this a high enough priority. Since we are probably all busy with other stuff, too, he can't be blamed though.
