To see if selector is an instance of $:

const element = $(document);
element === $(element); // true

I reopen issue because it seems that my code for is function is not working.
How to do, for example, this:

$( '.sortable' ).is( '.show' );

I mean keeping after the first selection only elements that match the given selector as parameter to is function ?

$('.sortable').filter('.show')
