I guess you are using this example https://github.com/vtortola/WebSocketListener/blob/master/samples/WebSocketEventListener/WebSocketEventListener.cs

To be honest, this was just a proof of concept, I never really used it. I would try to put together a running tests this weekend.

Is it running on a virtual machine? The fact that behaves differently in different ports is strange. Any proxy in the middle?

That’s the example we are using. We are on a virtual machine, the only difference with port 80 is that it was published to the web so we may have been getting requests although we haven’t run a packet capture. Port 81 is private so only has internal traffic. No proxies involved.

Ok I have been doing some continuous testing and everything seems to work fine.

However, I have been able to reproduce the situation by blocking the thread on the OnConnect event. Are you doing anything funny on the event handlers? Anything that can block or deadlock the calling thread In the WebSocketEventListener try to replace the .Invoke for .BeginInvoke and see if it makes any difference. If it does (event if it only means that takes longer to hung), probably there is something blocking threads at some point.

Again, that was a proof of concept, so I would recommend you to embrace the async/await model rather than events :)
