The code doesn't manage any connection itself, I defer to client.NewClient.

I suggest you write a simple piece of code using only github.com/influxdata/influxdb1-client to see if it's reproducible without go-metrics-influxdb.

I don't use InfluxDB anymore so I have no experience regarding resource usage.
