NEVERMIND! I should have been using $_REQUEST not $_POST!!

I thought $_REQUEST included $_POST variables. Why didn’t my method work?

As far as I know, right at the beginning of executing a request, PHP populates $_POST and $_GET. $_REQUEST will hold a copy (not reference) from these merged arrays. So, if you later modify $_POST, it will no reflect into $_REQUEST.
