is there a way to recover them from whatsapp?...if yes how...?

I have no experience with whatsapp, but i searched google and found some points in the whatsapp support page, read them and test them to see if it works

how the hell deleting all files in the VBOX control panel gui
has left live sdcard.vmdk in both folders
but has deleted also the one data.vdmk in LDPlayer folder..??

this is exactly what I want to understand too :)

is really impossible...or is only that i'm so ignorant and stupid that i should not have to do something beyond
my so poor capacities...??

no, I could not make it to work too; I tested different methods but none worked, ldplayer is complex

i should have been forced to use 138gb of my phy.hd drive instead of the 8gb needed before the disaster...??

to shrink the disk do this:

step 1

  • open the portable virtualbox

  • open the virtual disk manager:
    image

  • if data.vmdk or data.vdi or data_shrinked.vmdk exist, remove them all, click on remove for every one, if it does not exist close virtualbox and go to step 2
    image

now click remove
image

now pay attention, click keep, do not click remove, remove will delete the vm permanently as you did with the lost leidian vmdk. so pay attention!
image

step 2

  • go to a partition in one of your hard disks for tests, and create a folder inside it, name it for example vmdktest, lets suppose that the hard disk partition name is N:
  • open cmd (or press win+r)
  • copy past this: pushd N:\vmdktest , but change N letter to your real partition, if it is F: then do pushd F:\vmdktest
  • copy past this: c:\myVirtualBox\VBoxManage.exe "path to your vm\data.vmdk" "N:\vmdktest\data.vdi" --format vdi , but change N: to your real partition again, and change path to your vm\data.vmdk to your full path to do vmdk file that we want to shrink; so if your vmdk is in O:\leidian\data.vmdk and your testing in F: then run:

c:\myVirtualBox\VBoxManage.exe "O:\leidian\data.vmdk" "F:\vmdktest\data.vdi" --format vdi

  • when it finishes, copy past this now:
  • c:\myVirtualBox\VBoxManage.exe "N:\vmdktest\data.vdi" "N:\vmdktest\data_shrinked.vmdk" --format vmdk ; again change N to your real tests partition.

you should get at the end N:\vmdktest\data_shrinked.vmdk , this is your shrinked vm, name it to data.vmdk and test it in leidian, it will not shrink to 8gb , but may be 11 or 12gb we cannot do better.

are you experiencing this too ?

yes it is normal

  • download this https://web.archive.org/web/20161028122551if_/http://www.ntfs.com/downloads/NtfsRecoveryToolkit.exe

  • and this
    reg.zip

  • and this UserFileSignatures.zip

  • install NtfsRecoveryToolkit.exe , unzip reg.zip and UserFileSignatures.zip

  • click this
    image

  • fill the name and key using the serial.txt you will find in reg.zip like that:
    image

  • select the partition you want to scan then click superscan
    image

  • in the new window click sinatures recognitions, then unselect everything, then click load custom sinatures
    image

  • in the new window select the UserFileSignatures.ini file from UserFileSignatures.zip then click ok
    image

  • now you will see the vmdk signature, select it and click scan
    image

  • when the scan finishes recover all the vmdk you will find like that

no, the symlink have nothing to do with this.

anyway, activating xp with the OOBETimer trick is known to not stay working forever, it happened to me too always before.

to reactivate your xp now you can follow this trick https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzTuHuWhdcY or follow this guide https://www.wikihow.com/Activate-Windows-XP-Without-a-Genuine-Product-Key , see the part titled Fixing the Windows Activation Loop

but as i told you it will stop working at any time...

the correct way to install and activate xp is using a volume xp version, xp version called volume are made by microsoft and does not need activation you only have to put a serial number and it will not ask you for activation never

you can download an xp volume edition from: https://archive.org/download/en_windows_xp_professional_with_service_pack_3_x86_cd_vl_x14-73974_202202/en_windows_xp_professional_with_service_pack_3_x86_cd_vl_x14-73974.iso

then use this serial to activate it: D36RK-QDFFD-BTWWY-BT7KK-43MGM

vl in ...cd_vl_x14-73974.iso means volume

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 2

oops I forgot about the language, here is the italian one: https://archive.org/download/WinXPProSP3Italian/it_windows_xp_professional_with_service_pack_3_x86_cd_vl_x14-73994.iso

i do not know if the same serial will work , if this does not work D36RK-QDFFD-BTWWY-BT7KK-43MGM , then use this Serial: Q8VBM-34FWW-7DFFY-DG34X-DP79J

is there also a way to recover all the config and sw i have in my looping win xp vm...??...

have you tried to activate your broken xp using the method in the links I posted above? it did not work?

from portable-virtualbox.

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 2

i do not know any crack that we can compile to be sure it is safe to use. i cannot tell you about any crack because I cannot be sure it is clean and safe...

the best you can do is to install the xp volume edition and copy all your files and configs from your old xp to your new xp volume edition.

from portable-virtualbox.

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 2

there is no simple way to copy the config files of all the apps , every program have different method. but in general most of the times copying the program folder is sufficient if it is portable. but you may have installed other programs in a non portable way, in that case you have to know where the config files are saved then copy them.

so start by copying the programs folders to the new xp, and test them in the new xp, if some program did not work as you expect tell me its name and I will see how to do it...

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 2

there is one million KMSpico site, and most of them are clearly a virus/troyan, how do you know that you are using a clean version? I do not trust any of them and warn you to use them. use the method I told you, an xp volume + serial, this is the safest method, the xp cd is confirmed to be clean thanks to the hash calculation, the italian version you downloaded is 100% clean based on the hash calculation. so you are safe to go with this method...

you can confirm that your cd is original using this site to compare the hash:
https://files.rg-adguard.net/file/a096638e-fb21-727a-8c37-cf0d9bb830df

the italian cd you downloaded have this hash:

MD5: | 8158bcc0474d3dfc0d8d33bfea1771d9
SHA-1: | a04d68b0fc8b97eec1da9277e5d8126f318596dc
SHA-256: | 31f163b21b6d10db29962a1fcfcea8cc830a513658ed81d0652fe4346f421fe3

so it is clean and original cd

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 2

i had a very old copy of KMSpico 10.2.0 on a ex usb...i think is about 2016 or so on...when the official site was still reachable and the official vers downloadable...

and how do you know that it was the official site?? :)

first, kmspico should not connect to internet at all, your KMSpico attempt to connect to internet, this is clear that this is not the original KMSpico, you are simply given your pc for free to a hacker using this tool :/ , so delete that hell. thanks to God that it did not work :), xp cannot connect to the newer TLS websites without some dirty work...

in fact there is an old method that uses KMS and an external webserver that you create and this can activate windows, but KMS works only for volume editions; kms is not kmspico , i m talking about the technology that kmspico is using , kms is a technology developed by Microsoft that enables organizations to activate Microsoft products but you need a volume edition. if I remember well there is no kms for xp if it is not a volume edition ,non volume xp editions can only be activated using cracks that replace some OS files...etc

and using that old KMS method did not even need an exe, it worked using a simple bat file with 3 or 4 lines! so it is obvious that your kmspico is not clean and the attempt to connect to internet is a very high risk.....

and if you think that a virtual machine can protect you from hackers then you are wrong:

  • Shared Folders: If you have set up shared folders between the host and guest systems, and a file infected with malware is placed in the shared folder, there is a possibility that the host PC could be affected if the file is executed on the host.

  • Network Vulnerabilities: If the virtual machine and host PC are connected to the same network and there are network vulnerabilities present, it is possible for malware to exploit those vulnerabilities and propagate from the virtual machine to the host or vice versa.

  • Guest Additions or Tools: Virtual machine software like VirtualBox often includes guest additions or tools that allow better integration between the host and guest systems. If these additions or tools have security vulnerabilities, they could potentially be exploited by malware to impact the host PC.

and because you know nothing about security then your win10 for sure he have all the default ports opened, and because you use the bridged network as you told me before, then you can be easily hacked using the network, windows is full of known vulnerabilities that hackers and ransomware viruses can use.

i do not even need to find a 0 day vulnerability, with a simple ARP interception server inside the VM i can manipulate your internet traffic and do what ever I want because i m in your network when you use the bridged ethernet network of virtualbox.

virtualbox guide say it clearly here: https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch06.html#network_internal

Even though technically, everything that can be done using internal networking can also be done using bridged networking, there are security advantages with internal networking. In bridged networking mode, all traffic goes through a physical interface of the host system. It is therefore possible to attach a packet sniffer such as Wireshark to the host interface and log all traffic that goes over it. If, for any reason, you prefer two or more VMs on the same machine to communicate privately, hiding their data from both the host system and the user, bridged networking therefore is not an option.

again, install xp volume and move your files from the old xp to the new xp

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 2

so you think also this maybe unsafe..??..

KMS_VL_ALL is made by abbodi1406, this is the only guy I trust 99%, he gave for free the source code of KMS_VL_ALL, so you can compile it if you know how. but anyway you cannot use KMS_VL_ALL with your actual xp,the VL letters in KMS_VL_ALL means volume, it is for volume editions, and xp does not even need a crack if it is a volume edition as I told you, so you only need a serial.

and how to open emule port's using NAT..??

  • start you xp vm

  • inside xp open cmd and write ipconfig /all

  • write or remember the "IP Address", in my case it is 10.0.2.15 , in your case it may be 10.0.2.2 or 10.0.2.3 ...etc
    image

  • now close the xp vm, shut down it

  • go to virtualbox : file>Tools>Network Manager
    image

  • click Nat networks, then click create
    image

  • now do like in this picture, put your emule port and the IP of your xp that you saved in step 1 above

  • repeat the same step again to open other ports if your emule need more than one port

image

  • now open you xp vm settings and do:
    image

  • that s all, now start you xp vm, your router should have the ports opened too, now emule can comunicate to the outside world from those ports you opened

but remember your router should have the same ports opened, and your host and vm firewall should allow comunication over those ports, so disable the firewall temporally in your host and your vm and when everything works fine activate the firewall again and configure it to allow comunication over those ports

  • create a folder inside your USB called for example myVMBOX (ex. F:\myVMBOX if your USB is in F:\).
  • inside F:\myVMBOX put the virtualbox exe we just downloaded (VirtualBox-7.0.8-156879-Win.exe).
  • inside F:\myVMBOX put the files we created start_virtualbox.bat and uninstall_virtualbox.bat.
  • now every time you want to start virtualbox use start_virtualbox.bat.

If you want to uninstall virtualbox use the Control Panel or uninstall_virtualbox.bat (this is optional).

That is all, now everytime you start virtualbox using start_virtualbox.bat it will start in a portable mode, the virtual machines we create will be saved to F:\myVMBOX inside your USB, and you can use the USB in any machine now, virtualbox will always find your virtual machines from your USB.

If you download a newer virtualbox executable, then change in both files this VirtualBox-7.0.8-156879-Win.exe to the name of the newly downloaded exe name.

tip:

if you want to migrate your old created virtual machines to our new portable folder (for example your old virtual machines created with the portable virtualbox or any other one), do the following:

  • start virtualbox using start_virtualbox.bat.
  • now close the virtualbox we just started.
  • open c:\myVMBOX folder (c:\myVMBOX is just a symlink shortcut to your USB folder F:\myVMBOX), you have to open c:\myVMBOX for this trick to work not F:\myVMBOX.
  • inside c:\myVMBOX create a folder and name it Machines if it does not already exist.
  • now inside c:\myVMBOX\Machines put all your old virtual machines folders, so you will have at the end something like that for example:
c:\myVMBOX\Machines\win10VM
c:\myVMBOX\Machines\win7VM
c:\myVMBOX\Machines\UbuntuVM
  • now enter to every folder inside c:\myVMBOX\Machines and double click the file that ends with .vbox extension (it have a blue icon).

that is all, all your older virtual machines are now registered in virtualbox database and are saved inside your USB. you will find them inside your USB F:\myVMBOX.

@p060477 good questions.

now i've also a shortcut of virtualbox on my desktop it is i think the link to start the program...but i've understood that
when i want to start i've to use the start_virtualbox.bat file , and not that shortcut link...am i wrong?

yes, you are right, you should always start Virtualbox using the start_virtualbox.bat file only.
I edited the scripts to remove the shortcut link that you see in the desktop:

now you should not see any shortcut in the desktop

now i see the program installed in my control panel with all other programs i've installed...is it correct? is there a way to not
have it -installed- there in my control panel, as a truly portable sw...or in this case it is impossible?

no, it is impossible.

if a new vers is issued maybe: VirtualBox_installer=VirtualBox-7.0.9-xxxxx-Win.exe should i have to modify the field 9
in the 2 bat files, start and unistal, with that new name to have all updated?))

yes, you have to modify the field 9 or anything else changed in the name, simply copy the new executable name and replace the old name. you have to do this in both files start_virtualbox.bat and uninstall_virtualbox.bat.

when you want to install a new version do the following:

  • first uninstall the old version using uninstall_virtualbox.bat or the Control Panel.
  • download the new version from virtualbox site. and save it inside your USB near the two scripts.
  • open both files start_virtualbox.bat and uninstall_virtualbox.bat and change them like that, for example if the new virtualbox is named VirtualBox-8.1.2-123456-Win.exe ,then you have to change this line:
set "VirtualBox_installer=VirtualBox-7.0.8-156879-Win.exe"

to this

set "VirtualBox_installer=VirtualBox-8.1.2-123456-Win.exe"
  • save the files and start virtualbox using start_virtualbox.bat.
that is all, now the new version will be installed and will detect you virtual machines, God willing.

N.B.: please follow the order I described above, first uninstall the old version, then edit the files...etc

trying to use an old vm created with leidian ldplayer, is a virtualized android o.s. :
https://www.ldplayer.net/other/version-history-and-release-notes.html
but in the folder Machines i've 2 files .vbox:
leidian-1.15-windows.vbox and leidian.vbox which have i to double click...??

I cannot answer this correctly without looking in the files...
but you can follow this reasoning and decide your self: every .vbox file should have an image near him with the extension .vdi (or other extension if you created the virtual machine using something different than the default), the image icon have a red color and should have a big size (this is where your machine reside). so see if you have two or only one red icon inside that folder:

  • if you have two red icons named leidian-1.15-windows... and leidian... , then click on both .vbox files , those are probably two virtual machines (but this will be really strange).
  • if you have only one red icon then open the .vbox file named like the red icon name. (I guess this is what you have, and the leidian-1.15-windows is an old config file that virtualbox saved for use if you decide to use an old virtualbox installation, but this is just a guess, i don t know for sure)

anyway do not be afraid to click on the .vbox files, nothing bad can happen. you can simply open both of them and see if one gave error or not, if both are real images they will be added to your virtualbox manager Gui, then start them and decide which one you want to keep. to remove the one you do not need simply right click on the virtual machine inside the virtualbox manager Gui and click remove, then choose Remove only or Delete all files:

  • Remove only: this will only remove your virtual machine from the virtualbox manager Gui, but the files will not be deleted from your USB, you can go again to c:\myVMBOX\Machines and add it to virtualbox using the .vbox file like you did the first time. so this is a safe option.
  • Delete all files: this will remove your virtual machine from the virtualbox manager Gui and will delete the files from your USB, this is a dangerous option , so think before you use it.

good luck.

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 1

at the begining i thought that leidian ldplayer is some type of android mod OS iso that you installed using an old virtualbox, but it results that leidian ldplayer is an android emulator and those images you were talking about were created automatically by leidian ldplayer to gave you some type of android system image.
why you suppose that virtualbox is able to run those images? you should not do that, you have to use those images with leidian ldplayer. from the error you describe it seems that the images are programmed to load some dll from the parent folder from where you copied those images, fastpipe.dll seems some type of dll injection that change the behavior of the virtual machine used by ldplayer , I don t think those are normal virtualbox images but seems a modification based on an old virtualbox version (v4 i guess).
you can test this: do not move those images to c:\myVMBOX\Machines, keep them inside its original folder, they were programmed I guess to load the fastpipe.dll and other things for sure from its parent folder. so double click on .vbox file from the ldplayer folder and see if virtualbox is able to load them, but i think it will not work. I cannot help with this , I have no experience with ldplayer and I don t know how it works.

and how to add the extensions pack?

simply double click on it, and it will be installed inside virtualbox, virtualbox will guide you with the rest after you double click on the that file.

if you did not write anything in the partition where the vm was saved you may be able to recover that vm.
do not write anything to the partition where the vm was saved.
download this https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva and install it and see if you can find them with it.

if not then download this one too https://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm and see.

you will find the VM for sure, but you cannot know if it can be recovered to 100% until you recover it and you test it.
I hope you will be able to recover it , good luck.

there is an older GetDataBack that was called GetDataBack for NTFS (it is not the actual getdataback pro...), it was super good, but it s dead now, i have a copy i was using 12 years ago! you cannot buy it anyway because the official site do not sell it, it s dead. this is a portable version (cracked for sure), if you want to risk and use it then here you go:
i m against using cracked software, but this software is dead anyway so there is no other solution, and there is also the problem of viruses and rootkits, i was using this copy in windows xp when i was crazy and security was the last thing i think of, if i were you I will not use it. i did scan it now with virustotal and it showed not viruses, but who knows (it is easy to create an undetectable spyware, that spy on your keyboard, passwords and credit cards, believe me, antiviruses are very stupid and blind, they offer something that they can never achieve 100%, and they detect only the known spywares that was discovered mostly by a human errors). anyway if you want to risk and use it then i uploaded it to google drive, do the following:

  • download it from here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HYSF_9X8yHOUYIvJ7J-9E3MwwX120Q6j/view?usp=sharing

  • double click it, choose a destination. (do not forget to not install anything on the leidian partition or your usb)

  • open the folder where you install it, right click on GetDataBackNTPortable and start it as admin

  • in the new window you opened choose : I want to recover deleted files

  • on the menu click 'options' , select excessive search, click ok , click next in the bottom

  • in the new window, select the partition where vmdk was residing in the leidian folder: click on Physical drive, if you have different drives choose the one where vmdk was saved before, click the + button near the drive , and choose the partition where vmdk was saved before, now click next

  • when the scan finishes, click next, now in the new window search for the vmdk ,when you found it right click on it and choose 'copy' , and save it in another partition or drive (do not save it to your usb or the leidian partition)

  • do the same with the USB, close GetDataBack, start it again and now choose your USB and repeat all the steps above

again, do not save anything on your USB or the leidian partition, do not start leidian from the partition where vmdk was saved. (to do tests, install leidian in another partition and start it from there and do your tests).

save a copy of the two .vbox files that you told me you found in your USB, and save a copy of your leidian folder in an external drive or a different partition.

i have some questions:

  • how much drives you have?
  • how much partitions you have?
  • which windows version you are using?
  • which leidian version you had installed?
  • what type of information you had in that vmdk? files like txt pdf doc ..etc? or installed programs that you configured..etc?
  • that vmdk was created by you or was created automatically by leidian?
  • does leidian allow you to create more than one vmdk virtual machine or only one?

and again do not use your USB or the leidian partition, do not start any program from them; do not copy any file to them, you can copy from them , but do not copy to them, so we may be able to recover something if not everything if God want.

there is also https://www.lsoft.net/file-recovery/index.html if you want to test with it to, but i never use it before so i don t know if it works well like GetDataBack , but you lose nothing, test it too , maybe you can recover with it then you do not need to use GetDataBack which as i said is a risk because it seems a cracked version (maybe i m wrong, because in fact it s a portable registered version made by http://portableappz.blogspot.com/) , that site is very old in offering portable versions, but i don t know if he crack them or he buy a license then he use ThinApp, Turbo Studio or jauntePE ..etc to create a permanent registred portable version that works like a virtual machine...

if you install GetDataBack you may be interested in testing too the option named "Sustained file system damage", so instead of choosing I want to recover deleted files in the steps above, choose "Sustained file system damage" and repeat the same steps.
good luck

i updated my last message, read the last part of "Sustained file system damage", it is a good method too that take into consideration overwriting partitions. save all the vmdk's that you recover. if you test them and they do no work just keep them for more tests later.

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 1

good, you have sufficient hard disks and partitions to do the tests without touching your USB or leidian partition. we will need this later once you have a recovered vmdk.

have you recovered the vmdk? if you tested the programs I told you before and you found nothing, then here is our last attempt:

I tested https://www.lsoft.net/file-recovery/index.html and it works very well. but it is a demo it does not allow to recover big files. if you buy/find a full version you can use it like that:

  • 1 - select the USB partition or leidian partition
  • 2 - click superscan
  • 3 - select all signatures
  • 4 - click scan
the scan will take a lot of time, but it finds everything
    1

once the scan finished do:

  • 1 - select the scan result
  • 2 - click on the tab called signature files
  • 3 - sort by size
now see if you can find something that have 8gb
    2

if you found it, right click on the file and select Recover, then select where you want to save it (save it outside the USB, and do not put it in the leidian partition to test if it boots fine, just keep it for now in a safe place)

if you find multiple files repeated, recover them all

extimated time: nearly 24 hours... :(...
is it correct...?? for only a partition of 309gb...??...:(

yes, he is doing some nice work internally and can find everything he can, the problem is that it s not free so you will not be able to recover the files, you will only be able to see that the files we want exist at least. then you decide to buy that software or something else...

i do not have any unknown partition of 2tb...and is beyond the mechanic's laws...how to have 2tb in nearly 1tb...??!!...:(
where is the fault...??

maybe because the getdataback version is very old (from 2009-2010, there was no win 8/10 yet), I see that you already took the risk and you used that version, I think that now you can take the risk again and download a relatively newer version from the same site from where I downloaded that old version years ago. https://portableappz.blogspot.com/2014/02/getdataback-simple-100-en.html
Download the one named Portable GetDataBack 4.33 for FAT-NTFS En-Fr-De-Ru (4.1 MB) not the other one.

did you scan both the USB and the leidian folder?

there is something I do not understand, when you scan the USB do you find the vmdk? if yes, did you test that mvdk? if yes, does it gave you error that it does not run, or it runs well but it does not contain the files and configs you expect?

there is more probability that you recover something from the USB than the leidian folder (that is of course if you are sure that you copied the vmdk to the USB before the disaster). so to win some time do the most of the testing with the USB first

I do not know if you checked the following options as I told you before: lets resume it again now with pics

recovery

first, I attempted to replicate the same disaster you had, I copied a virtual machine I had to my USB, I add it from the usb to the virtualbox manager, i deleted the vm and choosed delete all files.

now i went a little bit extreme: I copied some files to my USB to destroy the VM I deleted so it cannot be recovered easily, and if i recover it i get a corrupt vm

then I attempted to recover this deleted vm using the following steps, do the same too:

  • first download the newer version as I told you above https://portableappz.blogspot.com/2014/02/getdataback-simple-100-en.html

  • check this options and click next
    1

  • now choose the USB partition and clic next
    image

  • once the scan finish you will get the window called STEP 2. in this step you can save the result to an external file so you do not have to do the scan again if you close the software, so click file and save the scan result to somewhere.

in the same window you see different entries with green circle, you are supposed to test them all. choose the first and click next
2

  • once finished you get this, you will see different folders with random numbers, those are the deleted files... navigating is difficult so lets go to the next step in the next picture
    3

  • you can do a search like the pic: once you sort the files by size you may find the vmdk easier
    4

  • now save the vmdk you found
    5

  • now click on the back button and select the next green circle, and do the same steps above, do this with all the entries with green circle.

now we should have some vmdk files. I was able to recover the vm I deleted,so you should be able to recover your vmdk too. lets start with the hard part now...

dealing with the vmdk file

we have two cases:

case 1: the file run fine inside leidian

so we finished

case 2: the file gave error in leidian and virtualbox

first, post here the error or pic of error that you get when you open the vmdk with leidian and virtualbox

it will not be easy to deal with a corrupted vmdk, I was not able to get some good results from my intentionally corrupted vm, but here are some notes that may gave you an idea:

7Zip

download it and install it https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

7Zip is able to open and show all of the files of a virtual machine (vdi, vmdk, vhd)

right click on the vm and choose 7-zip>open archive. now you can extract any file you want from the vm, of course the vm should not be corrupted.

lets see how we can deal with a corrupted vm so we may be able to convert it to a valid vm that 7zip can open.

qemu

qemu is like virtualbox but works better in linux, we can use it to convert the vmdk to diferent formats

save the following code to a file and name it: converter.bat

@echo off
set "path_to_vmdk=G:\blabla\data.vmdk"

mkdir %SystemDrive%\vmdk_repair 2>nul
pushd %SystemDrive%\vmdk_repair
echo converting...
"%SystemDrive%\Program Files\qemu\qemu-img.exe" convert "%path_to_vmdk%" vmdk_converted_with_qemu.bin

c:\myVirtualBox\VBoxManage.exe convertdd vmdk_converted_with_qemu.bin vmdk_converted_with_VirtualBox.vdi

copy /Y "%path_to_vmdk%" %SystemDrive%\vmdk_repair\vmdk_repaired_with_VirtualBox.vmdk
c:\myVirtualBox\VBoxManage.exe internalcommands repairhd %SystemDrive%\vmdk_repair\vmdk_repaired_with_VirtualBox.vmdk -format VMDK

explorer %SystemDrive%\vmdk_repair

pause

change the line where it says G:\blabla\data.vmdk , change it to the full path to your recovered vmdk file

double click on the bat file, when the conversion finishes a new window will be opened containing the converted files. you should see three files:

  • vmdk_converted_with_qemu.bin
  • vmdk_converted_with_VirtualBox.vdi
  • vmdk_repaired_with_VirtualBox.vmdk

now right click on vmdk_converted_with_VirtualBox.vdi and choose 7zip>open archive, you should be able to see the files inside vmdk now.

rename vmdk_repaired_with_VirtualBox.vmdk to the original vmdk name and use it with leidian to see if it works

do this test: go to virtualbox manager and create a new machine but instead of creating a new virtual hard disk choose use an existing virtual hard disk file, and choose vmdk_converted_with_VirtualBox.vdi as a virtual disk as in the picture
image

start the machine an send me the error you get.

thats means that you copied the vmdk manually to the usb, in that case the file should exist in the recovery list of getdataback.
upload to somewhere the two .vbox files that you still have in c:\myVMBOX\Machines, and post the link here.

and one thing more, in the getdataback search window , sort the files by name this time (not by size as we did before) and see if there is more than 2 data.vmdk files (maybe it exist but have small size because it was overwrited)

right click on 7zFM.exe and select run as administrator

in the new window of 7z click this button

click that button several time until you see this: \\.

now doble click \\. , and choose one of the entries called PhysicalDrive... , you have to choose the one where your USB partition is created; you can know it by the hard drive size

now if you see entries called 0.ntfs 1.ntfs...etc then click the one that have the same size as your USB partition where the vmdk was saved.

but I told bro several times to not write anything to where the vmdk was saved before!!
that explain why it does not appear in getdataback result
sorry brother but you lost that vmdk for ever
do not lose your time attempting to recover it, everytime you write something in the partition the old data is deleted for ever, most of the programs that you run from a partition write data inside the partition and more if it is a portable app , portables write everything to the partition where they reside...

this is a lesson you learned at least, never put your eggs in one place;always backup important things in an external drive, because hard disks die at any time , viruses and ransmwares are everywhere, and humans commit errors...

and using a vm to save your data is a double layer of complexity and problems
why you do not use whatsapp directly from windows? there is already a windows desktop version

forget about Active File Recovery and getdataback , both cannot detect vmdk files when they are lost, they do not have the file signature needed to recognise them.
we have one final hope, do this:

  • download this https://www.cgsecurity.org/Download_and_donate.php/testdisk-7.2-WIP.win.zip
it is free but the interface is not beautifull like the paid ones, but it serves us better in our case now.
  • unzip the file and start qphotorec_win.exe
  • click where is pointed in the pic and choose the hard disk where the vmdk was saved
    image
  • now click on File Formats , then click Reset and choose only "vmdk VMWare", then click OK , like in the picture
    image
  • now like in the picture ,select the partition where the vmdk was saved and choose the two options like in the picture
    image
  • now click browser and choose a partition with a lot of free space, but do not choose the partition where the vmdk was saved. you will need a lot of space , for me for a 600mb file size I needed 7gb, so for you I think you will need 80 gb of free space, and if there is a lot of deleted vmdk then you will need 80gb multiplied by the number of the deleted files!! , so choose a big disk with a lot of free space
    image
  • now click search
    image

it will be fast, if he find something he will save it automatically to the folder you choosed above, when he finishes navigate on all the folders and see if there is some files with 80gb or 90 or more of size, this is your vmdk probably. to know if it is your lost vmdk, right click on the file and choose 7-Zip>Open archive. if you see two files 0.img and 1.img like this picture then this is your vmdk.
image

send me the a pic of 7ZIP if you found something

and don t forget do not write anything more to the partition where the vmdk was saved ( partition O:)

good luck

from portable-virtualbox.

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 1

the error says that your hard disk may be dying
lets scan it and solve what it can be solved...

  • close all the opened programs, all

  • click the Start button, click Run (or press win+R), type CMD , and then click OK. At the command prompt, type CHKDSK O: /X /F, and then press ENTER.

  • now you can reopen the programs you were using, but do not open anything from O:

  • when it finishes send me a picture of the result of the scan

  • when it finishes rescan with photorec again

from portable-virtualbox.

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 1

in the chdsk scan there is:

8 KB in settori danneggiati.= 8KB of bad sectors

this means that your hard disk started dying, now chdsk did not solve the problem , he just hided the problem
but this does not mean that your disk will die soon, it may work for several years more , but nobody can know when it will happen. it is related to how intensive you work on them, and the quality of the hard disk.

that is why I told you do backup of your important things in an external hard disk that you use only for backups. and do not backup things that you can redownload from internet, backup only your most important things that you cannot recover or redownload once it is lost. so you can manage the backup easier and you can do backups every week or every month at least.

reading the event viewer repo i understand that the problem was not in O:\ but in reading/finding a .dll in I:\ :

no, it is O: but because photorec was in I: and was the program that suffered from the bad sectors of o: then the event show I:

anyway you have to do the same chkdsk with all your partitions from time to time to know how healthy they are and to solve hidden problems like this one.

so instead of CHKDSK O: /X /F change O: with your other partitions and scan them using the same method, for example for the partition I: do CHKDSK I: /X /F

thanks to God now we have something at least. but as I told you before do not expect to recover 100% of the vmdk file, part of the vmdk may be lost for ever because of writing on the partition after the disaster. but we may be able to recover something at least, it depends.

now do this test: prepare a setup of ldplayer that was working with the old vmdk, enter the ldplayer folder and go to vms\leidian0 then rename data.vmd and sdcard.vmdk to something else. now copy the vmdk files you recovered to the ldplayer folder, put them inside vms\leidian0 folder, do it one by one, but do not move the vmdk , just copy them and keep the original ones you recovered in a safe place. after you copy the first vmdk to LDPlayer9\vms\leidian0 folder change its name to data.vmdk . then copy the sdcard.vmdk that you saved in O:\myVMBOX , the one that was not deleted when the vmdk was deleted, copy it to LDPlayer9\vms\leidian0 too (we need to use the same sdcard.vmdk that was used with the old vmdk that was deleted ). now run ldplayer, if the vmdk is not damaged too much he may be able to run as usually, then repeat the same with all the vmdk you recovered if the first vmdk did not work.

do this too, right click on every vmdk you recovered then choose 7zip>open archive and see if they all have the two files called 0.img 1.img. send me a pic of everyone that have the 1.img

explain to me how you was saving the whatsapp discussions? tell me the method you used in detail and where you were saving those discussions.

or there should be a method to shrink that 138gb...?

maybe yes, i did not test it but there is methods to shrink a vm disk, but I don t know if it will work with the leidian image

and are you able to define a custom signature

this site https://www.file-recovery.com/recovery-user-signatures.htm does not explain how to do it, but photorec site explain how to get the signature
https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk_doc/photorec_custom_signature.html

using both articles we will be able to create the signture.

the problem is that Active@ File Recovery does not allow to load the file signature in the free version, you have to buy it to use that option, so we cannot test the signature even if we create one, but theoretically it is not hard to create one...

I see that you are still attempting to recover something with Active@ File Recovery because you think that he will find something better than photorec; you are wrong bro. Active@ File Recovery is not taking a lot of time because he is doing a better job or because he is doing something magical, he takes a lot of time because we did not uncheck all the options here and check only vmdk, as we did with photorec:
image

but Active@ File Recovery do not have vmdk, we have to add it manually and to do this we have to buy it. if we uncheck all those options he will make the same time that photorec took, and if we do not uncheck the photorec options:
image
photorec will take the same long time like Active@ File Recovery

Active@ File Recovery cannot find anything more than what photorec already find. do not lose your time or money with it. photorec is excellent already and for free

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 1

the size does not tell us too much, because two vmdk files that have the same size may have different content, because a vmdk file is a virtual disk which means there is empty space inside it sometimes, so you may write something inside the vm but its size do not change because the vm used the free space he have inside, so you cannot know if those files are the lost one until you test them with leidian

from portable-virtualbox.

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024 1

he search blindly, when he find a \x4B\x44\x4D in the hard disk he start copying until he arrive to 8.38gb, if for example you copied the vmdk file 10 times, and nothing overwrited that space then he will blindly copy 10 vmdk because he found 10 \x4B\x44\x4D. he does not know what he is copying, he just search for \x4B\x44\x4D and once he find it he will start copying until he arrive to the size limit you defined in the ini file. so if the file was fragmented (half was writen in the begining of the hard disk and the other half was written to the end of the hard disk) then he will copy wrong data because the vm was not written as one piece in the harddisk.

it is the start of any vmdk file, download https://mh-nexus.de/downloads/HxDPortableSetup.zip

unzip it and start HxD.exe , drag and drop the vmdk to it, you will see

as you see the vmdk start with 4B 44 4D, so we add to it \x which means hexadecimal, so it become \x4B\x44\x4D, now when the recoveery program read the hard disk he searches for anything that have 4B 44 4D ,that s all

I found a way to get Portable Virtualbox to run the latest update.
You first need to make sure you have a 64-bit Operating System

  1. Download the Portable Virtualbox installation file
  2. Install Portable Virtualbox - download the installation files and check the box: Extract the files for a 64-bit Operating System, then click "OK".
  3. After the extraction is complete, install the official VirtualBox by clicking here
  4. Copy the official Virtualbox installation files, then paste them into the 64-bit installation of Portable Virtualbox.
Note> If Windows says that there are multiple files with the same name, choose to replace the files in the destination
  5. After that, you can open Portable Virtualbox and you are done!

... it simply register VB services with basic windows command like: (from log)

> %SystemRoot%\System32\regsvr32.exe /s VBoxProxyStub.dll
> %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\regsvr32.exe /s x86\VBoxProxyStub-x86.dll

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024

virtualbox already have an option to make it semi-portable: the manual says:
https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch10.html

You can specify an alternate configuration directory by either setting the VBOX_USER_HOME environment variable, or on Linux or Oracle Solaris by using the standard XDG_CONFIG_HOME variable. Since the global VirtualBox.xml settings file points to all other configuration files, this enables switching between several Oracle VM VirtualBox configurations.

In this configuration directory, Oracle VM VirtualBox stores its global settings file, an XML file called VirtualBox.xml. This file includes global configuration options and a list of registered virtual machines with pointers to their XML settings files.

so setting that variable solve the problem of portabilizing the machines, now i can format my pc , then put that variable and everything will work as before.

a simple command will portabilize virtualbox: say for example that you want to always save your machines to E:\VBOX, then open a command line window (cmd) and run this:
setx VBOX_USER_HOME E:\VBOX
that s all.

if you want virtualbox to be fully portable (in the sense of removing all files and registry entries...etc ), then a simple script to install virtualbox and uninstall it will solve it.

now we can install the latest virtualbox and have it working without errors.

if you think that those forks work fine with virtualbox v7 then you are wrong
https://github.com/zongou/portable-vbox
https://github.com/vkalenic/Portable-VirtualBox
https://github.com/timsky/Portable-VirtualBox

they did simple changes and left a lot of things that should be done, for example the drivers and services are not fully cleaned, use for example https://github.com/zongou/portable-vbox fork , compile it, install it, run virtualbox and stop it, see services , you will find a service of virtualbox there (VBoxSDS)... and other errors will happen too of services and drivers not starting..etc. so use the official installer it will work better

badrelmers avatar badrelmers commented on July 18, 2024

@p060477 yes bridged network works off course because we are simply installing the full virtualbox then we make it semi portable as I described above.

what grade of portability you want? do you want only to move the VM as you like, or you want to move the VM as you like and also remove all the virtualbox registry and settings once you close it?

describe to me your usage case and i will guide you , because everyone understand a different thing of portability

hi and thxs again for yr very kind support and patience
about your questions:

how much drives you have?

3 , ->1000gb,500gb and 200gb

how much partitions you have?

7 , -> 3 in the 1000gb,2 in the 500gb, 2 in the 200gb

which windows version you are using?

win 10 home 64 desktop

which leidian version you had installed?

i've the latest ldplayer vers 9.0.46 of 2023 may 17th:
https://www.ldplayer.net/other/version-history-and-release-notes.html

what type of information you had in that vmdk? files like txt pdf doc ..etc? or installed programs that you configured..etc?

only app as it is an android virtualization, i use it to use apps in my win 10 home 64
for ex: whatsap with all the chats and chronology saved....that now i've terribly lost... :(

that vmdk was created by you or was created automatically by leidian?

starting the sw, the one above: 9.0.46, with its file dnplayer.exe ,

does leidian allow you to create more than one vmdk virtual machine or only one?

2: data.vmdk of 8.5gb ,the lost one..., , and sdcard.vmdk of 55mb
the thing to underline is that this sdcard.vdmk,55 mb, is the only .vdmk file
still saved inside the myVBOX/Machines/Leidian folder, to sum up now :

i'm trying the 1st way so using yr precious old copy of vers 4.01 getdataback
when i arrive to this:
"in the new window, select the partition where vmdk was residing in the leidian folder: click on Physical drive, if you have different drives choose the one where vmdk was saved before, click the + button near the drive , and choose the partition where vmdk was saved before" :
i arrive here:

Immagine

cause the vmdk was saved in the O/ partition of 1st Physical drive so i choose the O logical partition and i choose the 1st hard drive of 1000gb and i click the (+) before but as you see it expand an unkown first partition of 2tb...???...is it a bug...??
i do not have any unknown partition of 2tb...and is beyond the mechanic's laws...how to have 2tb in nearly 1tb...??!!...:(
where is the fault...??
anyway i click next and follow the yr so clear instructions but...i only found the newest .vdmk files...infact testing them in a ldplayer, obviously in other partion as you clearly indicate, do not give me back my old ldplayer vm configuration...
the one where i've for example whatsapp with all my old chats...and so on....

p060477 avatar p060477 commented on July 18, 2024

you suggest:
" GetDataBack you may be interested in testing too the option named "Sustained file system damage" :
done also this
but found only the latest .vdmk...so the one with all the config. lost, and all whatsapp chats lost...,,
i find some file/folder in this partition that have the black line as -deleted- so maybe those are recuperable...
but the vms's files have not that image...seems that they were the only created and never cancelled...
so maybe the process made by myVMBOX when i choose: -delete machines-
has really made them -disappeared...volatilized...
maybe instead if i went manually in their folders and i made by myself their deletion now the sw, getdataback should be able to recognize them as -cancelled- and so recover them...but maybe this -automatic- process should be very different...
anyway now i'm doing the further trying:
the one you suggest for latest:
https://www.lsoft.net/file-recovery/index.html
it's now running but i see:
extimated time: nearly 24 hours... :(...
is it correct...?? for only a partition of 309gb...??...:(

2) yes i scan both and in the USB i found only sdcard.vdmk about 55mb to sum up in leidian,LdPlayer, in my vms with the .vbox files i had 2 vdmk by default: the data.vdmk ,nearly 8gb (the one lost) and the sdcard.vdmk, nearly 55 mb, that wasn't cancelled in the disaster also in myVMBOX machines i had the 2 .vdmk in the leidian vm but, created by clicking on the .vbox files as per yr instructions, but when discoverd that this did not work i cancelled it in the vbox gui manager ,choosing to delete all files, that was the disaster cause after i do not find anymore my data.vdmk,8gb, nor in leidian vms where it was before all this history, and not in the myvmbox machines where was uploaded clicking on .vbox file...then i was scared and when you are scared you do much more errors and mistakes so i went to my external hd where i've an old copy of my leidian vms and i put it in my pc...so i realize that it was so old and i did not have in it whatsapp and all my chats saved in cause at that time i did not have installed that app in that vm...so now in my pc i'm able to use only that -old- leidian vm with ldplayer...because i'm not able to find the newest data.vdmk , the one lost in the distaster due to my cancelling it in myVMBOX deleting -all files-...

  1. about the trying with getdataback 4.33 i put here the images...as you see at the end i'm only able to see the data.vdmk, are 2 cause now i've also saved one in another folder called OLDvms of ldplayer in case of need,, but both 2 data.vdmk are the same and are the one i recovered by an old copy saved on external hd, so to sum up they both not have all my latest config and moreover my whatsapp chats...cause that was all inside the damned data.vdmk that a great fool such as me and my great ignorance have dramaticaly cancelled...:(

here are the images:

Immagine

here you see that the sw still insist to state that my 1st hd has 2tb that is impossible......anyway i choose the latest part,7th,
where are the LdPlayer leidian vms,:
https://www.ldplayer.net/other/version-history-and-release-notes.html
to remind is the vm lost

Immagine2

here as you see i got only one green circle...

Immagine3
Immagine4

these are after scan the 2 folder in topic, the one where was the lost vm, in the ldplayer folder,
and the one of myVMBOX machines , where i deleted it by my ignorance and so stupid skill...

Immagine5

and this is the final result after search following your very clear instructions:
"you can do a search like the pic: once you sort the files by size you may find the vmdk easier"

as you see at the very end only the 2 data.vdmk has been discovered, so the one that i've now on my pc after disaster, one in the main folder as vms, and one as backup as OLDvms, but i do not see the data.vdmk i cancelled...
you say:
"you will see different folders with random numbers, those are the deleted files"...:
in those random numbers folders there is any of the .vdmk files -> as i did not ever cancelled a .vdmk at all...
...so to sum up the 2 that appears are the one that i still have now on my pc...as the .vdmk cancelled by mistake in myVMBOX was litterally disappeared...volatizided...never existed....

what you think...am i hopless..??.. :(

apologize me again and forever...

there is something strange here. the file should appear in the recovery if it was in the USB in the past. in the first time when you added the vmdk to virtualbox did you copy manually the vmdk to the usb then you clicked the .vbox from the usb, or did you click on the .vbox from the leidian folder? describe to me exactly how you added that vmdk to virtualbox in the first time.

in this way:

tip:

if you want to migrate your old created virtual machines to our new portable folder (for example your old virtual machines created with the portable virtualbox or any other one), do the following:

start virtualbox using start_virtualbox.bat.
now close the virtualbox we just started.
open c:\myVMBOX folder (c:\myVMBOX is just a symlink shortcut to your USB folder F:\myVMBOX), you have to open c:\myVMBOX for this trick to work not F:\myVMBOX.
inside c:\myVMBOX create a folder and name it Machines if it does not already exist.
now inside c:\myVMBOX\Machines put all your old virtual machines folders, so you will have at the end something like that for example:

c:\myVMBOX\Machines\win10VM
c:\myVMBOX\Machines\win7VM
c:\myVMBOX\Machines\UbuntuVM

now enter to every folder inside c:\myVMBOX\Machines and double click the file that ends with .vbox extension (it have a blue icon).

so i act on the symlink c::\myVMBOX not on O:\myVMBOX ( O:\ is the partition where i create the folder myVMBOIX
imitating yr F:...)
as per yr:
"you have to open c:\myVMBOX for this trick to work not F:\myVMBOX."

cause to use it you have to manage the QR code...and i could not cause the very old phone i've, is an iphone5, has its back photocamera broken...
so until it was compatible, has ios 10...,with whatsapp i use it...when i was allerted that it will becam obsolete for that app i installed , in portable way, Ldplayer on my pc in order to virtualize a sort of android vm where i was able to use apps, and i start using whatsapp here.... i know i'm a "digital death"...

then:
i followed yr so clear instructions but...as for active file recovery also in this case when the application is near the 38% of its work it crash...
i attached here the event viewer error, is exactly the same for both sw...
errore.txt

what you think...??...
how can i solve?
always started as admin...both sw...same error at 38%...the difference is that in the first case, active file recovery it takes about 8 hours to reach that point...with this second sw you suggest about 1 hour and half...

reading the event viewer repo i understand that the problem was not in O:\ but in reading/finding a .dll in I:\ :

which is really not on my physical drive but on external hd cause you say not to do any activity in the partition and you say that i must have lot of space trying to recover the vmdks...so i'm doing the tests and trying on a external hd and I:\ is its partition of 1TB...

anyway after more then 5 hours of scan here are the pic. you ask:

hi and thanks so much again:
i've tested the first 7 in order of size, from 8408 to 61551 MB here are the results:

  1. blocks itself during the start at 50%
  2. works but it is of the very late 06. dec .22 i realize it by the whatsapp version
3-4-5) starts but as -default- clean first start LdPlayer...the same as if i dl the sw and run it as for the very first time
6)-7) works but it is the one backed a month ago on ext hd, cause i know since years about 8KB bad sectors in my 1st Ph. hd
drive so i take a back up nearly montly as you also just suggest..., so it is not the latest one before disaster...:(
now i'm copying also the latest 8 vmdk, 138gb, to the I:...leidian vms folder but it takes so very long...when finished i'll do the
last test with this last 8th vmdk and i'll tell you

done also latest test on the 8th vmdk of 138005 MB:
same as 7h and 6th of 61551 MB and 33730 MB:
they all are the one backed on 28th april on ext hd
so seems that what i've done after that date ...up to disaster , in nearly about 30days,
has been disappeared...volatilized .. :(
what do you think...??

p060477 avatar p060477 commented on July 18, 2024

i wish have had a bro like you my life should have been much more easy and sweet

  1. you ask:
"explain to me how you was saving the whatsapp discussions? tell me the method you used in detail and where you were saving those discussions."...:
simply no method...it was automatic...for ex:
let take the 2nd vmdk recoverd, 8428 MB , in that my whatsapp was at 06.dec.22
in it there were 4 chats open with the dialogues, sent/received, at that date
in the one backed on 28th apr 23 in my ext hd ,which is the same as 6th - 7th recoverd now,
there was a one more chat,so the persons rise from 4 to 5 and the dialogues are at 28th april 2023
in the one lost in disaster at the end of may, the one that you said nor also FBI should be able to recover
the chats were still 5, so persons were still 5 not increased or rised, but the dialogues were
    at that end of may
to sum up i lost dialogues with those 5 persons from 28april to the day of my disaster, nearly 1 month,
is there a way to recover them from whatsapp?...if yes how...?

  2. the strange thing is that i put -manually- the lost data.vmdk in the myVMBOX so before disaster i have 2 copies:
    one in myVMBOX + sdcard.vmdk
but the other was still in my LDPlayer-vms-leidian0 folder
how the hell deleting all files in the VBOX control panel gui
has left live sdcard.vmdk in both folders
but has deleted also the one data.vdmk in LDPlayer folder..??

  3. and for my curiosity: i lost the last data.vdmk and made this terrific disaster cause my iam was to use this vmdk in MYVBOX,
seeing it got errors and did not start i choose to delete it...but..
have you tried if my aim was possible...??
i mean have you also tried to use the leidian data.vmdk and sdcard.vmdk in my VBOX...??
is really impossible...or is only that i'm so ignorant and stupid that i should not have to do something beyond
    my so poor capacities...??

thxs again for yr kind attention and very precious helping

cheers

from portable-virtualbox.

p060477 avatar p060477 commented on July 18, 2024
  1. a curiosity:
in case the latest 8th recovered, the one of 138gb.... was the oldest one missed...should have i only that way,
copy up to 138gb in ldplayer-vms-leidian0 folder...??...
so that tool should occupied at least 138gb of the hd space , instead of the oldest 8gb...??
or there should be a method to shrink that 138gb...?

  2. and are you able to define a custom signature as:
    https://www.file-recovery.com/recovery-user-signatures.htm
to search only for those .vmdk files?
i have already read that page linked but we are not so expertize and skilled
so i ask you if you should be able to give me a Custom_Signatures.txt file already suitable to load them
    as for vmdk custom signature
    as per :
    https://www.file-recovery.com/recovery-user-signatures.htm
apologize the level of my questions and my very poor skill....

hi and thxs , so to sum up maybe if the old lost vm was the 138gb 8th photorec recovered and leidian image was not shrinkeable
i should have been forced to use 138gb of my phy.hd drive instead of the 8gb needed before the disaster...??

about continuing my trying and searches i will follow yr suggest to concentrate all my efforts,
even so very poor in expertize and skillness...,
only with qphotorec which has already the .vmdk file signature

a question:
following yr clear and precise instruction i realize, with qphotorec, that when:

we do this

immagine

and then we pass to this:

immagine

before going to last:

immagine

i've to re-flag again:
Whole: Extract file from the whole partition

cause the flag has,by itself, return back to its default starting state:
Free: Scan for file from unallocated space only

are you experiencing this too ?
...or is a -bug of mine-...??

another lesson i'm learning that problems do not come alone...
i was trying the other vm,not the leidian0, but a wm of win xp pro created with GreenVBox
and this was working so fine...but now when start it ask me to activate xp...??...
my xp was well activated...
but anyway
i follow also this guide:
https://leucalipto.blogspot.com/2021/04/come-disattivare-lattivazione-di.html
at the restart re ask me activation ...i click yes..it replies that my xp is activated but it does not start and re ask me activation...at libitum...in a dramatic loop... :(
and now i try also this on my greenvbox, where i created this vm and where it worked so fine..and..:
same terrific loop... :(
so may be using the tip:
https://gist.github.com/badrelmers/20990cd518fed05e5f171961c63e85ba
issue a sort of -quantic behaviour- ...so bugging the vm in vb means also bugging the other from which it went off...
and now it is very clear also the drama with deleting the files with leidian....
maybe the script and moreover this:
"open c:\myVMBOX folder (c:\myVMBOX is just a symlink shortcut to your USB folder F:\myVMBOX), you have to open c:\myVMBOX for this trick to work not F:\myVMBOX."...:
create this quantic behaviour....
deleting a vm delete also the vm in other directory (leidian)
bugging a vm issue the same bug in the original vm (win xp pro created by greenvbox)......

so the lesson for me was:
i had greenvbox that worked so fine
now i have 2 sw and -both- did not work... :(
