It doesn't look valid to me, the variant is set as 0
which seems wrong.

The variant
field identifies which standards do / don't apply to an ID. As you can see in the RFC, it only applies for variants set to 0b10x
. All other values are either legacy formats such as NCS or Microsoft GUIDs (hence, "backward compatible" in the sense that the variant
insures they won't collide with RFC UUIDs) or reserved for future use.
