Hi Martin, thanks for the input. I'm unsure what you're asking for. uuid.v1() and uuid.v4() are the first things documented in the API section, uuid() is documented under the deprecated APIs section.
Where can I help clarify things?

@soitgoes, the confusion here is because v1.3 is being developed on master
@broofa, consider using a new branch for the under-development version, then merging it to master
when it's ready for release to npm.
Also, I'd advise against removing the legacy API if it will cause breaking changes - re-implement it as a thin wrapper around your new API, and remove it from the documentation, I had to do this with byline.

@jahewson: Yeah, I got a bit sloppy with the branching on this. Sorry about that. I had v1.3 on a branch, then merged it, then realized I probably shouldn't push to NPM until after the holidays (when I'd have time to address any issues that might come up.) So I guess the main issue here is that the docs are a little ahead of schedule.
Anyhow, it'll all be resolved in a few days when I push 1.3.

Yeah I figured it out quickly after looking at the source but when I first tried to use it I was expecting it to work like the examples in the Readme and it cost me a few minutes.
Great project through it's been working well for me so far.
