Given the way Excon, the library we're using for HTTP requests, works, we can't add the Socket mode yet. In order to run docker as a port, supply -H=127.0.0.1:4243 when starting the daemon via the upstart script.
That being said, I have forked Excon and have added a working UnixSocket implementation and will try and get that merged into Excon. Once we can use Excon with local unix sockets, we can extend docker-api for supporting the default sockets.
