__ In review at the moment __
From @jeromelaban:

  • For the SDK setup, it's done in uno.check
  • The emulator is visible by default, starting the emulator is done by rider too

@agneszitte: So maybe it is just a problem on my side linked to my .android folder which has been moved for a specific reason for me the other week for VS as it was not working well because of an accent in my user folder name.

I will move back the .android folder to see if it makes a difference for my setup for Rider for my tests

Ok @jeromelaban, I have finally found the issue. It was not related to my different setup for my .android folder. Even after reverting back, moving the .android folder, removing the custom ANDROID_SDK_HOME environment variable, restarting the PC, and uninstalling/reinstalling Rider, the issue persisted. I even tested on my other computer where there was no specific Android setup.

After testing with the stable version of Rider, I noticed that I did not encounter any issues with seeing the emulators or the logcat logs.

Summary (With the same setup):

  • JetBrains Rider 2024.1.4 - Build #RD-241.18034.76, built on June 23, 2024: No Android emulator issues
  • JetBrains Rider 2024.2 EAP 7 - Build #RD-242.20224.26, built on July 10, 2024: Emulator issue

Closing this issue as it is not related to adding more doc on our side, but related to the version of Rider used for the issues I encountered.
I entered an issue for Rider: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/RIDER-114922/Android-Emulator-Not-Detected-in-JetBrains-Rider-2024.2-EAP-7
